I think I should sum up my opinion so there is no room for misinterpretation.
The disgusting unconscionable display the Democratic Congress conducted on the House floor, to which a handful of the Republican party slithered over to join forces on, is not the dissent that you took great pains to explain as one of the founding principles of our great country.
It is dirty politics under the guise of dissent. It is dirty politics directed at our CIC and thus directed at our military during a time of war. As such, it emboldens our enemy.
End of story.
Ah the silly Iraqis aren't as knowledgeable as you are they about their country's history. Democracy is doomed from the get go, it's the elephant in the room.
The Lincoln bashing, the VDH bashing, the comments on the war, and western democracy in general. Yeah I get it now. Democracy is a dirty word to you.
We aren't a Democracy, we are a Republic... yada yada yada and blah blah blah, been there, done that and no thanks.
Find someone else to annoy.
The Roman Way, The Greek Way -- both books you should pick up and read sometimes. ;)
Hey, I went one step further - Just sent Michael Castle (one of the 17) the following:
I trust you will abide by the Constitution and disqualify yourself from the office you hold.
US Constitution, 14th amendment, sect 3
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress...who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States...shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof
"Experience proves that the man who obstructs a war in which his nation is engaged, no matter whether right or wrong, occupies no enviable place in life or history. Better for him, individually, to advocate 'war, pestilence, and famine' than to act as obstructionist to a war already begun.... The most favorable posthumous history the stay-at-home traitor can hope for is -- oblivion."
~~ Ulysses S. Grant, Personal Memoirs
OK, so you don't think it is treason, but it is undeniably comforting to our enemy!
