Hmmmm, and the Progressive Liberals call us Nazi's?
And then you will have to make the very hard decision whether or not to give them up or take second amendment action. If you decide not to give them up your life expectancy will suddenly drop, but then so will the life expectancy of a number of bureaucrats and politicians.
I just contributed to the Ron Paul exploratory campaign. :-) May the best conservative win! (and may Rromney McCain Clinton Osama and Guiliani all rot in hell)
I get enraged each time I hear that.
Gee. We could get wrapped around the axle trying to analyze and rebut pages of BS, playing into their incrementalism, or...
...we could put the same energy into overturning 922(o) - a single friggin' sentence - and get _everything_ plus the happy switch.
Don't play their game.
Flank 'em.
Overturn 922(o) already.
Much more sweeping. Practically eliminates semi-autos with detachable magazines.
I'm all for that.
There's at least 3 of us who believe in the 2nd.
You forgot to mention re " life expectancy" "and the officers designated to collect them".
I sort of consider them to be "bureaucrats," but yes you're correct.
I like Ron Paul a lot. If he wins the nomination I'd be more than happy to support him. The thing we must be super careful about it to not tear each other to shreds in the nomination process! That's a for the RATs to do to each other, while we take notes for later use. It's going to be much healthier for our party if we are able to advance our respective candidates by concentrating on the issues and on positive definable plans for the future rather than blind hysteria and ugly campaign politics. Right?
Freedom bump!
And perhaps someone could explain this to me:
`(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to any firearm that--
`(A) is manually operated by bolt, pump, level, or slide action;
What's a "level" action? Is that where you cycle a round with a little air bubble in a tube full of colored liquid? /sarc
IDIOTS!
And from what I can see, it's a carbon-copy of the 94 legislation with some verbiage changes and the capacities restricted even more.
Well I'll be happy to shred a RINO like Julie Annie or McCaniac but on the whole I agree.
Once you allow any infringement, the line becomes subject to movement. SCOTUS has established that any right can be limited some for "reasonable" reasons - no right is absolute.
The kicker was 922(o). Until then, taxation and other behavior-related restrictions were deemed marginally acceptable and abused accordingly. Once an outright ban on inanimate objects (no post-'86 MGs) was enacted and generally accepted, banning other stuff became acceptable. Raich recently compounded this by ruling that the feds could prohibit stuff, no matter how small or harmless, by merely deeming it an "interstate commerce" matter. AWB I & II abuse this by banning parts, which are small enough to pass under the SCOTUS-approved radar for "shall not be infringed": oh, you can have X so long as harmless part Y is not attached.
"Shall not be infringed" has been generally accepted as "a little infringing, in reasonable or trivial matters, is acceptable".
Rather than pulling leaves off this weed, we need to yank out the root: 922(o).
That's why I said each other 'cause neither of them is one of US! But the good guys shouldn't be beating each other up. I have to grudgingly admit that if NEWT gets off the dime, he has possibly the best shot for a standing of decent conservative credentials AND name recognition. But he's got his baggage too, especially in the personal realm. On the whole, I'd rather have a new face like Hunter or Paul.
Long ago I worked with Newt for a common employer. I formed an opinion of him at the time that was less than flattering, and to think that he represents one of the better shots at conservatism makes me seriously disgusted.
W, if you are reading this, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, VETO THIS DAMNED THING if it gets to your desk.
