The state already does this when you by a gun or put in for a concealed carry permit. Back before the Brady Bill, you had to fill out a form to buy a gun. Took about five minutes, but there was still a state record of who bought the gun.

OOOPS, I just lost all of my firearms. Don't know what happpened to them. Imagine that!!!

And then you will have to make the very hard decision whether or not to give them up or take second amendment action. If you decide not to give them up your life expectancy will suddenly drop, but then so will the life expectancy of a number of bureaucrats and politicians.
