It's good for those of us south of the border to be reminded that not everyone in Canada has gone nuts.

Irrespective of whether one believes in global warming or not, it makes good sense to clean up the environment. However, many have done the environment a grave injustice by using the environment to advance their own political cause. For instance, they keep harping about the importance of Kyoto while ignoring the fact that Kyoto is about politics and redistributing wealth and does nothing to reduce greenhouse gases. If we are to clean up the environment we will need clean technologies. Countries such as Canada that have failed to meet Kyoto targets would do far more for the environment by investing in clean technology development than by buying carbon credits from the likes of Russia and China. Afterall, Russia did grave harm to the environment under the Soviet regime and China is rapidly becoming the world's biggest polluter. However, both profit under Kyoto.
