No it's not. This is not even remotely like Afghanistan. Go take a close look at the history of the Afghan war. The only reasons the Soviets lost was because of direct covert intervention by the US in training, financing, and equipping the Mujahadean. In 83 and 87 they were almost defeated, and had it not been for the US they would have gone under.
Look at how Iraq is different:
1) The Mujahadean directly attacked the Russians in a much more open fashion, and forced the Soviets back into the cities. US and Iraqi forces have secured and control a large part of Iraq. The bad guys in Iraq are attacking the civilian population much more than they are attacking US forces.
2) There is no super-power backing the terrorists. Iran is a 2nd rate regional power, with aspirations of Jihadi grandeur. The Russians and the Chinese may want to try and take the US down a notch, but they don't have the capabilities to do so.
3) The Soviets were trying to subjugate the Afghan population. The US is trying to turn the country back over to the Iraqis. The insurgents are trying to keep this from happening.
If you want to start making historical comparisons, you need to look back to the early 70's. The Dems are trying to undermine the US and our allies, just like they did with Vietnam. Over the next month, to a year, watch them pull more BS like the "non-binding" resolutions, and Murtha's "slow-bleed" in order to isolate the President from support, and make the troop's unable to complete their mission.

Chemical Warfare, no other word for it, my father was gassed in WW1 and had to live with the effects all his life. It is long past time to address the Syria/Iran support of the terrorists and their tactics.
What much will it take for the DEMSM to start acknowledging the enemy is using chemical weapons. My guess is they will just, laughingly, proclaim "It's just bleach".

Chlorine is available is large quantities in every pool and spa supply company and many garden centers. Combine that chemical with all the other nasty chemicals for manufacturing and repairing fiberglass. There is potential to have a real problem on your hands locally.

HUNDREDS of chemical weapons were found. Weapons Iraq was to have destroyed. Forbidden missiles were found. Forbidden equipment was found. The head of the Iraqi Air Force revealed that WMDs were flown out of the country while the war was being debated. NO interest was manifested by the Treason media in this story.
War was COMPLETELY justifiable based upon years of violations of the conditions imposed on Iraq after Gulf War I by themselves.
WMD programs WERE found. Hundreds of Iraqi scientists working on those programs fled the country or were assassinated.
No WMD's in Iraq, move along, move along...
