I thought you were making a snarky comment about abortion which takes the lives of roughly 1/3 of the children in the US

I am guessing that was not actually your point.

Prenatal care supposes that we really care about unborn children-- which seems a bit confused in America.

Sometimes I think Liberals are incapable of originality.

They're incapable of rationality.

Not at all. You guessed correctly.

I'm a retired physician/scientist, but I do teach part time at Ohio State (or other places, from time to time) and I received a new text for my consideration for use in one of the nursing courses I teach. I came across a table ranking the infant mortality rates in various countries, and the USA ranked very poorly (I forget, but I recall USA ranked 22 (with the lowest mortality rate ranked 1). I had an in-class discussion on this topic with me asking the students to postulate the reason(s) for this.

The conclusion of my students was the same as that given in the Instructor's manual (which I never received until the last day of class, and I hardly ever use them anyhow), which is that this is due to 1. ignorance, which leads to 2. not taking proper self- care and 3. lack of professional pre-natal care.

IMHO the abortion issue should not be a political one, which means politicians are not the solution. I think it's an ignorance problem coupled with the lack of vigorous support for adoption services.
