Since the idea of such sinlessness and ascension by Mary was unknown in the uniform writings of the church fathers, there is no reason to believe it was any more than a myth, finally promulgated officially in the last hundred years. As was the doctrine of Mary as a co-redemptrix from sin by your last pope. But you can see how one builds from the other. It's quite transparent.
