Hey, everybody! According to MHJohnnie "we" sent Ted Kennedy to Washington. Forget the people in Taxachussets - it was us.
Hey Johnnie, do you think Bush will even consider vetoing this bill?
You're making an arse out of yourself, raybbr.
Hey Johnnie, do you think Bush will even consider vetoing this bill?
In 1999-2000, there were bona fide amnesty bills being floated by DEMOCRATS on Capitol Hill. In his campaign, then Governor Bush proposed a comparatively modest immigration refort package that, yes, fell short of bona fide amnesty. Funny how it wasn't much of an issue until 2005 and the lead up to the 2006 midterms. Funny how the issue then exploded in putatively right-wing circles. Funny how many of those hawking this issue back then are now quiet about it as the Dims once again look to push genuine amnesty.
Will PRESIDENT Bush sign the legislation if it ever gets to his desk? Who knows. But one thing I do know...on this issue he owes absolutely nothing to all you screech owls who have vilified him time and time again on this and other issues. You all shot your wad, and it resulted in a Dem Congress which will push a much more extreme immigration bill. And all you can do is sit around and whine about it.
My way or the highway doesn't work in most aspects of life, and it certainly doesn't work in politics.
