I can tell you that they don't have fleas because they break the flea/egg/host cycle by sleeping in a different place every night...unlike our best friend, the dog.

My dog sleeps in the same place every night and much of the day, and doesn't have fleas. And I've never had fleas and don't sleep around either. The phenomenon you describe must not apply in all species. I did pull a tick off him the other day.
