Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use Is His Own “Inconvenient Truth”

Al Gore’s Personal Energy Use Is His Own “Inconvenient Truth” Gore’s home uses more than 20 times the national average

Last night, Al Gore’s global-warming documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, collected an Oscar for best documentary feature, but the Tennessee Center for Policy Research has found that Gore deserves a gold statue for hypocrisy.

Gore’s mansion, located in the posh Belle Meade area of Nashville, consumes more electricity every month than the average American household uses in an entire year, according to the Nashville Electric Service (NES).

In his documentary, the former Vice President calls on Americans to conserve energy by reducing electricity consumption at home.

The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average.

Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh—guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.

Since the release of An Inconvenient Truth, Gore’s energy consumption has increased from an average of 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, to 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.

Gore’s extravagant energy use does not stop at his electric bill. Natural gas bills for Gore’s mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year.

“As the spokesman of choice for the global warming movement, Al Gore has to be willing to walk to walk, not just talk the talk, when it comes to home energy use,” said Tennessee Center for Policy Research President Drew Johnson.

In total, Gore paid nearly $30,000 in combined electricity and natural gas bills for his Nashville estate in 2006.

A friend of mine in Nashville tells me Al Gore's consumption of pork barbecue is also about 20 times the national average.

LOL.

I still Gore should be a man of his word and move into a one bedroom apartment and not turn the heat or AC on (a little open window or fireplace will take care of that problem).

Now get down on your knees and bow to egore, the man who couldn't carry his home state! Even Tennessee knows a real hypocrite, when they see one!

I'd love to see a contrast with the Bush residence in Crawfordville. It's considered state-of-the-art environment friendly.

Didn't Ted Turner actually practice what he preached? I remember reading somewhere he supposedly used no A/C in his Atlanta mansion. . .

The "special people" will be exempt while the rest of us shiver in the light of a dim bulb.

This story is already on the spike. ALGORE has good intentions and that's that. MSM has no outrage except for those who get in the way of Algore, mrs. Bill Clinton, et all.

Factor in the private planes and SUV caravans for public appearances.

He claims he's trading carbon credits. But what does he have to trade for his lavish lifestyle?

More than 20 times the average of electricity consumption?

Hmmm, maybe he is raising cannabis plants under glow lights in his basement ... he must have been smoking something when he made an Inconvenient Truth!

There is no reason why Algore should burn up fossil fuels. There seems to be no real shortage of them and, as he knows, and I hope you know, too) there is no global warming. It is a con. And a pretty good one, at that. What do the global warming advocates want? --Well, they want power to control you, and they want the financing that you can provide for their various "saving the Earth" projects, and, if they can hurt the USA along the way, so much the better. At first, their efforts were laughable, but, as they have racheted up the stakes and more and more folks are being taken in by it, it looks like all of your favorite politicians will climb on board, if only to look current. After all, it's not their money in the game, it's yours! lol
