At least we are a federation of autonomous countries. Educate me: are there provisions for an EU member state to:
- Withdraw from the monetary union? (without sanction). (e.g., if Germany wanted to return to the d-mark, would that be possible?)
- Secede from the EU itself?
Just curious...

noone asked that question up to now so there's no example for that.
I think if we saw major issues in monetary politics (like for an example a massive dollar devaluation) we certainly have this option.
Breaking up partnerships without sanction is an illusion - not just with the EU but certainly with any partnership.
