What does the "professor" have to say about Black slaveholders and those West African tribes who sold their defeated enemies and other Blacks to White slave traders?

Whenever one portrays themselves, and their race, as perpetual victims, there's always an agenda working behind the scenes.

Furious backpedaling and post justification for "premature ejaculation." The 88 shot from the hip, had bad aim and, like the man who farts in a crowd, are whistling through the debris while trying to look innocent.

We had a long discussion about what the word ‘regret’ means...

...and we get paid big bucks to not look it up in the dictionary!

The Duke 88 slandered and ruined the lives of 3 innocent young men.

These vermin will be sued personally for millions in damages. And deserve finacial ruin for their evil, unrepentant criminal behavior.

Think of it this way. If we forgive the black slave holders and condemn the white slave holders, it is a kind of "carbon offset."

They are creating a wonderful straw person to attack...

(Sigh,) I remember when it was OK to say straw man and save the syllable and ambiguity.

It makes you ponder the parallels between Duke Faculty and Global Warming Faculty.

Agreed. If he sees fit to complain about white males having "their way" with black women fine. But objectivity requires that he also address black males "having their way" with white women.

National crime data show that about 1% of rapes committed by whites are against black victims. For rapes committed by blacks, the percentage of victims who are white is about 37%.

He sounds like the kind of apologist who would claim that the latter rapes are due to poverty and oppression by the white man.

Members of the Group of 88 say they have received hundreds of e-mails, many of which were racist and threatening in tone.

Which is exactly what their ad was, "racist and threatening in tone."

To the group of 88:

Signatures mean something.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence were willing to give up everything for their cause. When an individual signs a mortgage, they are financially committed to that document, or lose everything.

Don't dilute what you did, or try to change its meaning. You thought you were being brave little liberals when you put on your display of outrage to the public. Now its time for you to lose everything.

Well, you stuck your neck out. Now you deserve a societal guillotine.

Each and every one of you should be fired.
Duke Alumni should withhold contributions until each and every one of you racists have been removed from the University.
Each and every one of you should give up teaching.
Every University in the country should realize that your actions are irresponsible and that you have no business professing your twisted opinions to our youth.
College applicants should be informed of your presence on any campus, so that they can make the correct choice for their future.

Signatures mean something. Pay up.

Well we shouldn't judge people by race and we know all white people do. I mean, whites hate people who don't look like them. It's just ingrained in their dna.

I work in academia--I am a doctoral student in English and a university librarian. The professors at Duke who put their name on that article are not being honest. One of the current trends in studying literature and history is to look at documents and writings not only as isolated works but in the context in which they were produced. Any honest scholar would admit that the article was directly addressing the lacrosse team situation and in fact could not be understood without taking that into account.

Dr. Houston A. Baker Jr., the former president of the Modern Language Association and a former endowed chair at the university, wrote a scathing letter to the administration, which he made public.

“Young, white, violent, drunken men among us — implicitly boasted by our athletic directors and administrators — have injured lives,” he wrote.

How in hell does the "president of the "Modern Languages Association" write an illiterate non-sentence like that?

"I remember when it was OK to say straw man "

Henceforth the term "Scarecrow" is derogatory. We shall use the term "Oppression Figurine"

This case basically started out with a bunch of preppy white athletes seeing the major sports programs on campus having parties with strippers and thinking they needed to do one to keep up with the Joneses; there was no race angle in the thing at all to begin with. Then there was the one girl who was in a fubar state before she arrived and who was walking around in circles afterwards with no real clue as to who she was, where she came from, or which was was up or down, and who claimed rape as a last desperate way to stay out of the funny farm she was headed into. And then the town's psycho DA and the town's racism-maddened voters and the commie-racists at NCCU and NC's chapter of NAACP got involved.

Altogether a sad story, and the biggest villain in the whole picture to my thinking is the common man in Durham who voted to re-elect Fong long after the parameters of the sordid tale were well known. These ****-heads clearly view the voting franchise about the way Hitler viewed the V-II missile, i.e. as a revenge weapon, and think they can vote human sacrafices for themselves. They either should not be voting, or they should not be living close to any innocent people they can harm BY voting.

In particular, aside from every other problem, Duke needs to move; no parent in his right mind would send a kid to ANY school within 50 miles of such a place at this point, particularly after that 60-Minutes segment. In fact they asked Kevin Finnerty if Colin might be coming back to Duke any time soon and the reply was something like 'you GOTTA be kidding' and there was a clear indication that the town was the biggest part of the problem.

Last year, six Black faculty left the school. Lange said they would be replaced this past September with 10 Black faculty, but others dispute this figure.

I guess Tokens are interchangeable.

“The impact of the ad was devastating,” says Dr. Steven Baldwin, a chemistry professor at Duke. “This was a large segment of faculty, some highly respected, and it really swung the pendulum against the lacrosse players.”

They had no business taking out the ad. In effect they were willing to deny the lacrosse players their right to trial. They were willing to set aside, "innocent until proven guilty" in the name of their ideaology.

You wouldn't be under the impression that the MLA cares about language, would you?

No, no. That was the old MLA. Today's MLA is a postmodern institution that has replaced its original mission with moonbat politics.
