Gov. Tim Kaine protested in Roanoke today (Pictures included)

Posted on 02/28/2007 12:09:26 PM PST by Gopher Broke

Gov. Tim (Eyebrow) Kaine was protested by a group of Roanoke-area taxpayers today, as he attended Raleigh Court Elementary School on his "easy listening" tour. He was apparently listening to school kids, rather than taxpayers and voters.

The group took issue with Kaine's campaign promise to not raise taxes, a promise he immediately broke during his first year in office.

Also, one member of the group sat in the Tim Kaine Rocking Chair. The group objects to the fact that Kaine has done nothing while the General Assembly hammered out a Transportation Plan.

Kaine now plans radical changes to it which, if not approved, will trigger a veto.

Just another example of the moral and ethical decay of our governments.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. Which party does he belong to? I presume from the use of the keyword "liberal" that he's Dem, in which case no one should be surprised or even upset.

I hope he vetos the transportation plan.
The repubs in the House MUST come out fighting and pin the blame for it squarely on Timmy. They came out with a plan. I don't like the plan but they did it. His veto means that, despite all his protestations to the contrary, transportation is just a political football to him.

You are sooooo bad!! ;)

I still rather he veto the bill, tho.
If the repubs play it right, we don't have tax and fee increases and he looks like an obstructionist in the Tom Daschle mold. IMHO, that's a win-win.

Ultimately I agree. This isn't the best plan. I'm afrait it may be the best we can do. But if he gets to happy with that veto pen, I've been told they'll deal with it.

I hope that Kaine vetoes it too, but I'm afraid that we're not in agreement as to why it should be vetoed.

I didn't see one person in this thread post anything negative about the so called Transportation Compromise bill that was pushed by the Republicans in the General Assembly. Unfortunately, just like the National GOP, the Republican Party of Virginia has also lost its compass. This bill is replete with tax increases, fees, and an entirely new structure of unaccountable and unelected government.

Worse, the bill is unconstitutional as it violates the single object rule of the VA Constitution. There are several other legal problems with this bill, but the violation of the single object rule is the most obvious and blatant disregard of our State's Constitution by the Republican majorities in the State Legislature.

You really need to read some of the posts at http://baconsrebellion.blogspot.com. Too much has been covered there to repeat here in one post.
