The battery in my world-clock went south, so I might have the time zones wrong
Doesn't matter - Jewish holidays start at sundown - wherever you happen to be, so sundown in Jerusalem is not sundown in Los Angeles.
There's also a "need to see three stars with once glance" rule, but I'm not sure how often that's adhered to among the non-Orthodox. I've never figured out how that works on a cloudy night anyway.
Also, up until sundown (where sundown occurs in your locale), it will still be the Sabbath, which takes precedence.
Cheers,

"...Doesn't matter - Jewish holidays start at sundown - wherever you happen to be, so sundown in Jerusalem is not sundown in Los Angeles..."Right! I looked it up - EST is + 7 hrs on Tel Aviv, and + 8&1/2 hrs on Tehran.
So when it's 7:00 PM in Tel Aviv, it's NOON in the EST zone. So, if the bombing commences at 3:30 AM, Tehran time, the announcement from Washington happens at 7:00 PM, EST.
Just gettin' it right ........... FRegards
