Albertville (AL) police have charged three men with running an $800,000-a-year prostitution house from a trailer park. Authorities believe the prostitutes, some of whom may have been minors, were brought across the Mexican border and forced to work in the brothel.

Police believe the proprietors used women smuggled over the Mexican border, charging them $2,500 to $4,000 to come to the United States and forcing them to work in the brothel. It is not clear yet whether the men who ran the operation were also bringing the women into the country.

People can make pathetic jokes about this but the sex trade is a horrible racket and an example of depravity.

Every whore is someone else's daughter, etc.

Depravity -- the world's oldest profession -- and business is booming. There was a Mexican immigrant run brothel shut down in my town not too long ago. Most of the johns they rounded up were fellow illegals.

Why am I not surprised.?

This is a serious abuse situation, abuse of women and most likely children. However, any time there is a story about prositution the jokes on Freeper remind me of a bunch of junior high school boys. and if someone mentions that just maybe this might be a serious situation,Whoa..look out..get ready to get flamed.

I have never understood the dichotomy here ...one minute its so moralistic and religious, the next its gutter or bar jokes.

There was a Mexican immigrant run brothel shut down in my town not too long ago. Most of the johns they rounded up were fellow illegals.

From the article:

Albertville Police Chief Benny Womack said police over the weekend arrested Leon Miguel Martinez, 31; his brother Jose Fernandez Gonzales, 24; and Elias Miranda, 41, charging them with promoting prostitution. In addition, police detained five others who await immigration charges. All are illegal immigrants, Womack said.

The brothel operated out of two trailers to avoid arousing suspicion, serving mostly migrant workers and Hispanics.

I do make dumb jokes, but I also make jokes, that, to me, have commentary in them as well. Any joke along that line in this case casts a bright light on the fact that the illegal immigration trade is largely an avenue for even greater lawlessness, and serves the needs and plans of criminals more effectively than any other group.

If they're willing to break the law to come here, they're willing to break it time and again when they are here. If the women were forced, it was by others who could exploit the status they chose, knowing they couldn't complain.

The 'just doing jobs Americans won't do' canard masks the basic fact-- the whole process begins with broken laws and grows similarly.

"Yep. These women weren't even prostitutes, they were raped for the financial benefit of others. Those guys should hang."

There are several million women worldwide that are sex slaves. 40,000 to 100,000/ year are in the United States.

On a totally different note, I would like to thank you "Condor 63" for adding a small addition to the posting...namely this:

Albertville (AL) police

The original article didn't have it but your foresight really helped. I often wonder when reading such articles, "What state is this in? Is this even in the US?!"

Again. thank you. It's the small things that matter sometimes.
