Not all faggots are gay, and not all gays are faggots.
I think Edwards is the former.

I don't think Ann did anything wrong, nor should she apologize.

Just think what we'd be saying here on FR, if someone had called a conservative republican that...

It seems to me that Ann's detractors here have a message that goes something like: "Gee, if we'd only stop saying things that the left finds offensive, then maybe they's like us more! "
That sounds familiar to me.
Oh, yea... it's just like the SurrenderMonkies' apppeasement message about Mozzies!
...and it is equaly as logical.

I would think Ann would know that in the late 1970s we started seeing items in newspapers like: Mr. Edwards, a metrosexual, a term he prefers,..."
Perhaps we should use those two phrases after John Edwards' name every time we use it. After all, isn't a metrosexual someone who is overly concerned with his hair and nails?

I liked Ann's description of Edwards as a lawyer, after his last case before he ran with Kerry. It was a litigation suit against the medical doctor who delivered a baby through natural chilbirth and the baby had some disability. Edwards claimed that if the baby was born through C-section, it would not have the disability and he convinced the jury. He told the jury he actually communicated with the baby in the womb and it was pleading with him for a C-section. Ann called him the fetus-whisperer.

You've nailed it, and there really isn't a bigger point to this thread. The article that identifies Coulter as right-wing and her audience as conservative, while leaving Edwards merely a former Democratic Senator, is clearly biased, more so when you know that the author expects Coulter to be vilified for her comments.
I can understand the debate over tactics, and there is real danger that Coulter's message is lost due to the firestorm it has raised, but perhaps it is gone so far for so long that it takes some manufactured outrage to make people take a look at what has become the norm.
Jonathan Swift wrote about eating the children of the poor with similar intent. There comes a point where the noise made by the Left drowns out any reasoned, quiet response and the only way to be heard is to be stunning.

Seems to me we have more and more liberals on this once conservative web site doing what they do best, undermining conservatism.
What gave you the first clue? There is an organised club of them here.

Her answer should be: "I am happy to assure Mr. Dean and the Mr. Edwards that I did not call the latter a 'faggot.' I specifically declined to call him a 'faggot.' I said if I were to call him a 'faggot' I would have to go into rehab. I do not want to go into rehab, so I did not call Mr. Edwards a 'faggot.' I don't think it's appropriate to call any aspiring public official a 'faggot' and I think that anyone who does stoop so low should be sent to rehab.
"Those who use the word 'faggot' to describe Mr. Edwards should spend hard time with the delusionals in our culture who call our president a chimp or a mass murderer. Not that I find the two statements morally equivalent, for indeed they are not. But it would be wrong to call Mr. Edwards a 'faggot.' That's all I'm saying.
"Others have called Mr. Edwards a 'Breck Girl' but that's skating dangerously close to calling him a faggot. I, for one, will not call him a Breck Girl or a faggot. But of the two, I will be most careful not to call Mr. Edwards a 'faggot.' So let this be my sworn, solemn promise to everyone, especially Mr. Edwards: should the whole world call Mr. Edwards a 'faggot,' yet I will not. I have never done so. I will not do so now, or ever."

I agree with you.
Seems to me that when I was a kid, eight year olds had thicker skin than today's adults. Her point of being sent to rehab for using a 'forbidden' word isn't lost on me. Ann merely pointed out the absurdity of political correctness and hypersensitivity.
Ann Coulter is having a laugh at her critic's expense. It's like: "See how easy it is to push people's buttons and send them into a tizzy? Watch this".
I'm surprised at how many 'conservatives' fall for the PC nonsense.

I, (Insert candidate name here), hereby denounce Ann Coulter's insensitive use of vocabulary to describe John Edwards' effeminate brand of liberalism. The use of the term 'faggot' as a descriptive of a testosterone challenged metrosexual is objectionable to some. Ms. Coulter should have been more thoughtful in her choice of words and could have used such terms as 'pansy-ass', 'nancy-boy', or even 'queer bait' to more appropriately describe Mr. Silky Pony Breck Girl...er...I mean Senator Edwards.
Additionally, I offer my apologies to faggots everywhere for Ms. Coulter's insensitive association of them with an ambulance-chasing, dead child channeling, effeminate leftist twerp like John Edwards.
Signed,
(Insert candidate name here)
ps. Now, none of you faggots better be getting the wrong idea here about this. AND STOP LOOKING AT MY ASS! Damned, sons of............
