NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)
Below are the topics and guests announced for this program, along with my take on the "memes" that the show is trying to push. With each guest's name are a series of links that I found in a web search that helped me get a handle on who they are and what their likely positions will be when they are interviewed.
- Meme:
- The surge isn't working... it can't be working... war hero and genius Saint John Murtha says it isn't so
- Hah! Lindsey Graham says it can work! No one has ever taken him seriously... wait... we have... oops
- America is evil... no, it's the source of all evil... you know what we mean
- Scandal. Bureaucrats, those faceless evil AFSCME union members, mistreating Iraq war veterans... wait, somehow it must be Bush's fault
- Topics:
- The Troop Surge
- Congress is swirling with various plans to counter the president's troop "surge" in Iraq.
- An outspoken critic of the troop increase, the Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, will discuss his plan, which ties Iraq war funding to troop readiness and weigh in on another Democratic proposal that would require troops to come home within six months if Iraq's leaders fail to control the violence.
- Can the "surge" work? One of President Bush's strongest supporters, a Republican member of the Armed Services Committee, discusses why the country and his counterparts in Congress should give it a chance.
- Political roundtable: Decision 2008
- Sober American history shares a stage with volatile American politics during the commemoration of the 1965 civil rights march in Selma, Alabama.
- Not only will presidential hopefuls Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama speak simultaneously at different church services, but now former President Bill Clinton will be making the trip to Selma to be inducted into the National Voting Rights Museum hall of fame.
- On the Republican side, candidates Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani spoke this week to the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington - but notably absent was Senator John McCain.

Wonder if anyone bothered to inform both Murtha and Meet the Insane that not only do that not have enough votes to get their "Surrender on Iraq Now" plan thru the US Senate, it does NOT look like they even have enough votes in the US House for it.
Remember 58 Democrat seats are in US Congressional Districts that voted 52% or more for GW Bush in 2004. The US Junk Media may be able to ignore that fact but you better believe the people who run the Democrat Party Campaign machine do not.
