It seems the Nazi's were trying to build a simular device, which "energy from the vaccum and -who cares if these silly theories violate the laws of thermal dynamics- enthusiests think was some kind of anti gravity device.

Of course, the government knows all about these things and keeps them all supressed in Area 51. When inventors discover these devices on their own, they are imprisoned/ threatened and have their labs and every trace of inventions stolen, which they can never seem to duplicate again unless you send them lots of money.
