COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Demolition crews on Monday started tearing down a disputed youth center that was at the heart of recent street riots in Copenhagen.
Workers wore face masks under their helmets to conceal their identities as an excavator tore into the so-called Youth House, a graffiti-sprayed brick building in the Noerrebro district of the Danish capital.
A police anti-terror squad on Thursday evicted squatters from the building, triggering three nights of clashes with leftist youth that turned parts of the city into a battle zone.
More than 600 people were arrested and more than 20 injured as protesters hurled cobblestones at riot police and set fire to cars and trash bins in Copenhagen's worst riots in 14 years.
The Youth House for years served as a popular cultural center for anarchists, punk rockers and left-wing groups. The squatters considered it as free public housing, but courts ordered them out after the city sold the building to a Christian congregation.

Amazing. The AP calls a flop house for Commies and terrorists a "youth center." The wonders never cease.

Let me guess, The punk trash all sang "Long Live Socialism" One last time before they were tossed out onto the street?

What always amazes me is that anarchists can and do organize in protest, be it here or at global summits or whatever. They must have leaders somewhere to bring them together...
Do they keep day-timers and the like?
Just something that always has smacked me as funny...

When I am in charge, I'll demo the building with them in it. Kinda like General Clark, Janet Reno, and Bill clinton would do to a compound filled with a sect.

Not terrorists. But now if they want a roof over their heads, they are actually going to have to clean up and get a job, or swallow their pride and return home to their parents.

Well I have and let me tell you it was a youth house. Care to define "Youth House" for those of us who are not as enlightened as you?

"Those arrested in the riots included more than 140 protesters from Sweden, Norway, Germany and the
United States" That explains the graffiti.

Children are born terrorizers; maturity is a brake on gratification. When maturity is delayed, the terrorists just become more determined, larger and stronger.

Did you notice they called it "disputed" and "so-called"? I actually did, further down in the article. The headline made it sound like the big, mean, Danish cops were tearing down an innocent little day care center.

A youth house is a place where young people can go and feel safe and hangout with their peers. Ungdomshuset was bought by a christian sect called fader huset which started in the 70's they also had a christian school that was closed down for refusing to teach kids science. I know how bad it looks when you see all the rioting but, put it this way those kids would'nt be on the streets if they got to keep their house. Are you telling us that the Ungdomshuset was run by the Christian Faderhuset???
How many "pipes" do you think would be inside the house instead of in the streets???

... popular cultural center for anarchists, punk rockers and left-wing groups. ... The lunatic left has "culture"?
I think not. I've seen these clowns, or their like, in action far too many times and they are nothing but bitter losers.
