President Bush should pardon I. Lewis Scooter Libby. The trial that concluded in a guilty verdict on four of five counts conclusively proved only one thing: A White House aide became the target of a politicized prosecution set in motion by bureaucratic infighting and political cowardice.

the bush administration
giving a pass to berger, jefferson, etc. and then caving into this sham prosecution
unbelievably pathetic wimps
I've already e-mailed and called the WH commenting that Libby should be pardoned.
Bush will never do it, just like he won't get involved in the Ramos-Compean case. He'll roll over for the left again.
It would look incredibly improper. He should at least wait until January of 2009.
If the judicial process is exhausted, and all appeals run out and this ridiculous verdict (that was given by people who don't even know what is legal and what isn't!) isn't overturned, then yes... he should. But it's a bit premature for anyone to ask for it now.
P.S. These one-sentence excerpts are getting silly, especially when the source doesn't require any excerpting.
Why won't he be pardoned? Bush just needs to sit tight and upon leaving office give him a full pardon. I don't think Bush can get any more unpopular so at this point it doesn't matter what he does. Brit Hume said on FNC that he doesn't think he'll go to jail, so lets keep our fingers crossed for that.
Why should Scooter have to wait until 2009 for a pardon from President Bush?
Come on Bush, Do It Now!
Pardon Scooter
That Libby will go to jail, while Sandy Burglar, William Jefferson, and Bill and Hillary Clinton are running free shows what a LOUSY system of justice prevails in our country.
Bush shouldn't even look at this until the post trial and appeals processes work themselves out.
....and OJ is on the golf course as we type.
Anyone else notice that the media and the Democratic Party considers lying under oath to be a much more serious problem now than it was just a few years ago?
Because there is an on-going legal matter in play. Libby is asking for a new trial which would mean no conviction. If that doesn't work then he wants to appeal which would mean he's not a convicted felon.
The executive branch needs to stay out of this until it runs its course.
Please excuse this slightly off-topic post but I didn't know where else to post it.
I just received this email as part of a Yahoo group posting. Believe it or not it is an academic group.
"scooter libby was convicted of treason today and should be sentenced to death. he is the modern day benidict arnold"
How do these things get started? How do these people come up with this crap? How can you twist the verdict to come close to this?
Thank you for the sanity reply.
WOW...I am surprised the editors at NRO would come out for this.
Maybe they think that Cheney or Bush should be the one going to prison instead.
If Scooter gets pardoned, Hillary gets elected.
