I don't know. When I was a kid and we asked someone to do something and they said no, we said, "what are you, a faggot or something?" Or, "you are such a fag."

Heck, we didn't even know what a gay person was. But we knew that a faggot was a wuss.

Count me in your camp. Fag was the playground word for afraid also.

Fagged out was a common term used in athletics to indicate that you were exhausted or tired and couldn't do anything else.
