I could vote for Romney in the general if it came to that. I'm a Duncan fan, but I do like Romney. His flip flop on abortion bothers a lot of socons, but I believe that he was only saying he was pro-choice in MA to get elected. I believe that he is pro-life and always has been. OTOH, He probably won't be much of a pro-life president but then again, neither is Bush (wasted opportunities).

"This election isn't about ideology. It's about competence." Michael Dukakis, 1988.

“If its leadership, competent governance and somebody you know is going to wake up every day thinking about how he can do a better job, Rudy’s your guy.” Tony Carbonetti, Rudy staffer...2007.

If Giuliani deported all Saudi Arabian nationals, he could dress up as a woman all the time, for all I care. I think a lot of conservatives agree with me.

Great quote. You can't claim to be strong on the war on terror if you stand for an open border.

Very true. The air waves today were all abuzz about his tendency to be thin skinned and a little explosive at press conferences in his early years as mayor.
The choice we make will have to be made very carefully. The GOP inspection will pale in comparison to what depths the Dems will be willing to wallow in whoever the nominee is.

Let him stay in new york as governor or something, because we in the south any buyin'.

I would have thought so myself, but Rudy is polling surprisingly well in the South.

I guess they don't call it the New South for nothin'.

What's wrong with being pro-immigrant?

What, all the other men are fakers?

I'd prefer a real executive experience over a 1 term senator who's mainly been playing the role of President etc.

Everybody's pro-immigrant. It's the lawbreaking illegal aliens we have a problem with. These are people who flaunt our laws, take advantage of public services, and commit the crimes that other people won't.

Guiliani will NEVER deport all Saudis. Not even close.
Expect a continuation of open borders under Rudy.

Romney may not be so kind to McCain given the chance. Mitt detests the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law and thinks the McCain-Kennedy immigration reform law would be a disaster. Do you notice something those legislative initiatives have in common? :-)

McCain Voter: "Alex, I'll risk the operation of forums like Free Republic, and the English-speaking culture of America, please."
