It is not worth wasting your time or getting your BP up.

This was not directed at you. It was directed at the person who replied to you.

You know what I'm talking about, though.

Sorry, EV, but that was not just an angry statement. Rome2000 wrote: "Yeah I hope one day your kid marries a psychotic male nurse with a death fetish who then starves her to death against your wishes."

I have long written that one thing that, to my thinking, made conservatives more decent than the left was that conservatives never wished harm on someone's child for the beliefs of the parent. It didn't matter how controversial the issue was, conservatives just didn't do that. I'd brought it up with many libertarians and those that had an opinion agreed with me.

Even when I disagreed, I have had a strong belief in the fundamental decency of conservatives -- a decency that I identified with. It is a belief that I have struggled to keep for the last several years. Rome2000's statement has ealt the harshest blow to it yet.

Someone who claims to belong to a "culture of life" does not wish death on anyone's children. Someone who belongs to a "culture of life" does not dismiss someone else's statement as statement as forgivable because there is an "open wound." It was a shameful statement that makes the phrase "culture of life" more of a politician's cant and less of a heartfelt moral belief.

I made no comment about that poster or his post. Not one.

You're right. I misread the number.

Still, the point still stands with regard to Rome2000. And the fact that Rome2000 received more praise than condemnation for that statement is shameful.

Sorry, but I'm not responsible for what other people post on FR.

True. But he is posting it in support of your view. Is wishing death on children something you approve of, if it's in support of Terri Schiavo?

Of course not. I'm offended that you would ask. Is every Margaret Sanger-loving pro-abort liberal who posts here your responsibility?

No. But if I was active in the thread and they suggested that abortion should be legal -- or, even, compelled -- in order to advance Sanger's views of eugenics, I'd raise an objection.

Ah, well... No, it's not your fault. I misread which comment you were responding to. The Rome2000s of the world do you no favors.
