I think the polls show he is now in 4th place behind Gingrich, rather telling. I'm just waiting for the grown-ups to enter the Presidential race.

How about you give two examples of each man doing this in what you consider to be the WRONG way and enlighten us all as to the action they SHOULD have taken.

That's easy. In the Schiavo case, all Jeb Bush would have had to do was sit down and write a couple of paragraphs invoking his executive power and duty as the Governor of the State of Florida to enforce Article One, Section Two of the state's constitution. Two troopers deliver the order to the hospice, and bada bing, Terri would still be with her family today. By the way, I had a long conversation with the LEO officers in front of the hospice, and asked them explicitly about this. They made it clear that they would have obeyed such an order instantaneously.

In Romney's case, he used his executive power to enforce an unlawful and unconstitutional edict from four out-of-control judges to implement gay marriage. The legislature ignored the court, effectively checking them, but Romney caved, joining the court in checking the legislature. The result? Gay marriage, even though there is still no law authorizing it. All Romney had to do was NOTHING, and there isn't a thing the court could have done about it. If he had, gay marriage would not be in effect in MA.

Certainly does put a new spin on "good, Christian folk"...

Another vote for dueling ~ I can see a serious change in the character of public debate coming.

Best spend more time at the NRA range.

He lost me big time. He flipped on killing babies but still agrees with killing the other innocent beings out there that can't speak for themselves.

Yes, I'm a mortal. A mere God-fearing, Bible believing mortal who thinks it is wrong to kill an innocent woman regardless of whatever law says it's all right.

God forbid *you* ever find yourself in Terri's position. :*(

The Terri wars will never end, until justice is served to the
evil trio who orchestrated her very premature death!!!

Romney should have kept his mouth shut but I appreciate his
putting the nail in his own coffin.

Jeb Bush failed to rescue an innocent female constituent being murdered
under his watch!

Enough said.

There's an "In Forum" tab on my home page.

And your blog has several references to Mitt as well. Guess that'll need some editing.

"I think it's probably best to leave these kinds of matters in the hands of the courts," Romney said

Buh-bye, Mitt.

That wouldn't be a strawman, would it?

We have strawmen reproducing like rabbits here tonight. There must be strawwomen as well unless we got cloning going on.

"I generally think that it's not a good idea for courts to legislate. Nor is it great idea for legislatures to adjudicate in a specific circumstance," Romney said.

I would read it as he doesn't agree with the Congress making a public demonstration of the fact that they're powerless, incompetent morons, but to each their own...

why didn't the protesters just go to the Florida legislature and have feeding tubes taken off the default list of "life support equipment"?

THAT is a very good question.

Look, if you want to turn the clock back to "family law" circa 1400, that's what you'll get.

It was common for fathers to "execute" false suitors who'd seduced their daughters.

The dude is right. This was no place for the government to get involved.

You're right. The government should never act to protect the lives of American citizens who are being intentionally starved to death. The government should not protect the right to life. When left up to the courts the ownership of African slaves was upheld (see Dred Scott decision). When left up tot he courts the mass slaughter of unborn children was upheld (see Roe v Wade & Doe v Bolton).
