Bomber wounds three in Casablanca

Map of Morocco

A suicide bomber has wounded three people in an internet cafe in the Moroccan city of Casablanca.

The attack, which took place on Sunday evening in the Sidi Moumen district of the city, left the bomber dead.

The blast happened after the man began a dispute with the cafe's owner, who refused him access to jihadist sites.

Another man, with the bomber at the time of the blast, fled after the explosion but has now been arrested by police, reports say.

"The man used to come to view jihadist websites and the dispute was prompted by the internet cafe owner's decision to prevent him this time from viewing such propaganda material," one official told Reuters.

Police say it is unclear if the device was detonated by design or went off by accident during the argument between the two men.

One theory is that the man was trying to access websites or email to receive instructions on where to detonate the explosives.

The blast occurred in a slum area of the city that was home to 13 suicide bombers who carried out a series of co-ordinated suicide bombings in 2003 which left 33 people dead.

I'm sure they rounded up all the usual suspects.

No doubt it was Bogart who did it.

The Jihadist Recruiting Office must have lowered its standards. There was a report awhile ago that a terrorist's bomb exploded when his bicycle hit a bump. Doesn't sound like these guys are the brightest bulbs.

One way sane people might could deal with the tactic of the suicide bomber would be as follows. Set up your own shahadi recruiting office or whatever passes for that in places where that is done, and arm ten or twelve shahadi with belts which appear to be dyamite laden but which actually only fire two or three pork-laden 45-caliber bullets inwards into the *******'s own stomach and then emit oinking and squeeling noises for the next 30 minutes as the *******s die lingering and painful deaths. If somebody did enough of that it might get to where nobody could be recruited for shahad because they'd never know where that suicide belt might have come from or where they might be headed in consequence.

The last I heard Americas aren't in Casablanca.. Wonder why they bombed the Moroccans? Maybe just because they (the bombers) are all nuts?

More like they swept up all the usual suspects, into a bucket.

Second question first yes, to a point. Next, Why Moroccans? Well, because the islamist movement despises the King and the kingdom and their relatively free society. Secondly, they probably have turned Surete National loose on the beards , and God help them because their interrogators won't. Personal incident, I had a beard on a bus start up on me last week. The other passengers shut him down and made him get back to his seat. Maybe they were just being polite to the American on the bus, but they made sure this clown understood his outburst was unwelcome. So, yeah, I am angry about this attack and I think that whomever the bomber's associates are, they will soon be a were.

We lived in Morocco for two years back in the seventies and loved it. I would like to take a trip back but doubt I will with the world situation the way it is.

Morocco was a wonderful place then. I often wonder what it's like today.

You'd feel right at home again. Morocco is still as you recall it and maybe a little nicer. A private note will follow.
