Veterans to protect memorial
The Daily American ^ | March 13, 2007 | JENNIFER GARLESKY Daily American Staff Write

Posted on 03/13/2007 7:23:32 PM PDT by mdittmar

Vietnam veterans from across the country will be protesting in Washington, D.C., Saturday.

The veterans' protest is also a response to an anti-war rally by the ANSWER (Act Now To Stop War and End Racism) Coalition. Coalition members will stage an event outside the Pentagon, protesting the United State's involvement in Iraq, according to the organization's Web site.

Veterans plan to form a circle around the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The Wall) to protect it from protesters, Joe Kennick, president of Somerset County Vietnam Veterans Chapter 587, said.

The veterans' protest is to prevent the defacing of the memorial. During a protest on Jan. 27, the Capitol steps were spray-painted by a small group of demonstrators.

“We are all making this effort to protect the wall,” he said.

Kennick said he found out about the protest during the organization's state council meeting. He said members from across the state are planning to attend the event. About 15 chapter members are expected to participate in the counter rally.

“We are not looking for trouble, we just want to protect what's ours,” he said.

According to his son Sam (new freeper Duncan Hunter Ambassador), Duncan Hunter is going to try to make it out there. I sure hope he does.

Yes, God bless those veterans.

It makes a good visual, the strong stoic veteran against the weak leftist.

Why does the left always have to destroy things to make a point?

Some MoveOn affiliated message boards are recruiting for a *nasty* turn out. This was on their Flash Mob sites.

I agree! It's a sad indictment, however, that they have to rise up again to protect a precious memorial dedicated to them because there are so many idiots in this country that threaten that same memorial and said idiots ARE NOT WORTH DEFENDING! This includes that sorry piece of flotsam, Cindy Sheehan and her worthless cohorts, among others!! God bless our Viet Nam Veterans and God bless 'em for their support of our Iraq war veterans!

200 hippies against 10 vets protecting the memorial would be an unfair fight. In favor of the vets.

March on the Pentagon

Saturday, March 17, 2007@12:00pm.
MARCH ON THE PENTAGON Saturday March 17
End the War NOW! Impeach Bush for War Crimes!

On March 17, to mark the 5th year of this immoral and unjust war and occupation of Iraq, JOIN FORCES and march on The Pentagon. Tell the Bush Regime to End the War NOW! No attack on Iran!

George Bush and Dick Cheney must be impeached for war crimes and crimes against humanity! Millions are against the war, spying, torture, the abandoning of Katrina survivors, a spreading theocracy and suppression of science—and want the whole disaster of the Bush regime to be brought to a halt. The more we demand impeachment, Bush’s war options will grow more limited; the more his war crimes are exposed, the greater the impetus for his removal and repudiation.

It is time we rise to this challenge in unity with each other. The people are on our side, the momentum is on our side, the whole world is on our side. The challenge: are we going to move heaven and earth to remove the criminal Bush regime, ending the war and repudiating the direction they’ve taken this society?

“THAT WHICH YOU WILL NOT RESIST AND MOBILIZE TO STOP, YOU WILL LEARN OR BE FORCED TO ACCEPT

Now is the time. 2008 is too late. It is unconscionable to allow this carnage to go on. We can and must reverse the entire course we have been forced to accept, or it will be made permanent.

March on the Pentagon and make our voices heard!

Saturday, MARCH 17. Assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C. 2 pm March to the Pentagon.

-------------------
On Monday March 19th, as a follow-up to our huge rally at the Pentagon groups of individuals will be meeting with Congresspeople to help hit home the point that our coalition of organizations (representative of many millions of disaffected U.S. citizens) demand impeachment of Bush and Cheney.

In order to make that message crystal clear we will be authoring what are called "memorials" which is a legally/procedurally recognized method by the Rules of the House of Representatives for individual citizens to initiate the impeachment process in the House. The congressperson can then, if convinced, bring up articles of impeachment for debate.

This is being headed up by Joshua Schulman of the Kingston, NY chapter He has volunteered to organize this along with Jodin of the Minneapolis chpater. Contact Joshua at:
kingstonny@worldcantwait.org

Jodin, has worked up a "memorial" as part of his DIY Impeachment. So, for your own memorial to bring with you to see your representative, download it here:

These "people" are delusional. President Bush was overwhelmingly re-elected and they have been screaming for impeachment ever since. Human waste is all they are...emphasis on waste and not human!

Yes, delusional. But also committable. As much as I thought I've seen it all when I've started snooping around their sites, I've not seen such escalation as now.

Indeed they are! Even their young children are vile and hateful. I thought one little girl's head was going to start spinning like Linda Blair's last January. I looked at the mother and simply said; "Nice job there mom!"

As a life long student of history and war, the lack of understanding of the reality of situations, past and present, in the protesters escapes my ken.

If they had their way , we'd all return to a time long, long ago that they worship as Utopia. That return would arrive at the Law of the Jungle........Chomp!

To think we afford them a vote.

No Army, no Navy, No big businesses, no dirty stinking cars, no chemical plants just what they can find and keep in communing with nature.

Believe it or not.

While at the UH, a professor and his family and some foolhardy followers did just that. They bought a sailboat and stocked it with supplies; seeds, basic tools and subsistence lit. Had their teeth pulled and were fitted with dentures; and they sailed away. They were back six months later, just as stupid and a lot more ugly.
