I think the big banks saw this coming which is why they had CONgress re write the bankruptcy law.
They spread so much cash around, even that noble - even a paragon of public service, William Jefferson, D-LA, voted for it ;^)

I don't think debts incurred via fraud were ever (or now) eligible to be discharged in bankruptcy.

If that's true it's stupid.

Why? Because, if someone's insolvent, they're insolvent. Not allowing them to file bankruptcy won't get them their money any faster, it just gives a lender license to continue harassing the person for money they don't have.
