CAPITOL HILL (AP) - Outed CIA operative Valerie Plame says she had nothing to do with her husband being sent on a fact-finding trip to Africa. It was a trip that her husband later said debunked the Bush administration's rationale for war.
She testified to a House panel that, "There was no nepotism involved," adding that she did not "have that authority."
Her husband is former Ambassador Joseph Wilson. He found there was no evidence that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons.

She just made Fitzgerald out to be a LAUGHING STOCK!!! at least that's MY spin!
Brought by who? The Bush controlled Justice Department? The Bush controlled CIA?
You are obviously joking.
She said she had "nothing" to do with his being sent but previously said she only mentioned his name.
Gateway Pundit has pics of the document

This whore knows she'll never be charged with perjury or lying before Congress, not this congress, the most partisan and vicious in US history. They'll protect her to the hilt while somehow turning the tables on the Bush administration just like they did with the corrupt US attorneys who were fired. Then the Bush admin. will timidly accept responsibilty and admit "mistakes" were made while Bimbo Plame and the Dems. will come out of it smelling like a rose because once again the wimps at the White House refused to fight back against brazen lies and hypocrisy.
If she was pro Bush she'd be in a lot of trouble.
There's no mention in the report that she denied making a recommendation. She's just saying that she didn't make the final decision. That probably wouldn't be a lie.
Didn't anyone think to directly ask her if she recommended sending her husband?
Bush's controled CIA or DOJ, now that is funny, they let Sandy go, went after Libby.
I think they will go after Rush before they do her, they do not want ot appear mean spirted. /scarasm off
I beginning to wonder if such institutions exist.
They all seem to be part of a Shadow Government anymore. :-/
"Authority" had nothing to do with it. It was a rubber stamp authority on internal actions that Plame herself had been a part of.
The CIA's record shows:
(1)The panel of intelligence people looking into sending someone to Niger included Plame.
(2)The panel of intelligence people looking into sending someone to Niger discussed the possibility of sending Plame's husband, but discussed no one else for that role.
(3)Plame wrote a memo to her superior recommending her husband for the trip.
(4)Plame's superior made no effort to consider anyone else for the trip.
(5)Plame's superior gave his approval to the selection of Wilson.
So, the factual trail is: Plame's husband is in fact selected for the trip after (a)his name as a possible candidate originates in an intelligence committee on which Plame sat, (b)a committee in which no other name is offered, (c)and which is followed by a letter of recommendation by Plame to her boss (d)and after which the "authority", her boss, considered no one else.
To conflate who had the "authority" to the idea that she had no role in her husband's selection, is a Michael Moore kind of lie. The facts show she had a prominent role in his selection, regardless of what "authority" rubber stamped that selection.
She learned "parsing" from the Clintons.
You know, this completely raises my red flags for a couple reasons:
(1) why would it "upset" a Plame CIA underling that the Vice President wanted to know about yellowcake? Seems like a legitimate concern in the War on Terror.
(2) So let me get this straight - PLAME didn't recommend her husband - this junior achiever of hers just pulled Joe Wilson's name out of his butt rather than contact operatives in that part of the world and THEN said junior spy takes it upon himself to mention his name to higher ups? Because that's my inference from her testimony - IT WASN'T ME - it was Sparky my Assistant!
[...says she had nothing to do with her husband being sent on a 'fact-finding' trip to Africa]
In her mind and the minds of the DEMSM, she is telling the truth, it was NOT a 'finder of facts mission', it was a political mission. If the question were "Did you have anything to do with sending your husband to Africa" and she answered no, she'd be lying.
Remember: "It depends on what the meaning of is..is"?
Even ignoring Plame's culpability in hiring her husband, I want to know about the assertion that someone in our national intelligence network is upset that Mean Old Dick Cheney asked about yellowcake and needed a hug.
If our government was like 24, there would be no Jack Bauers and a lot of the whiny backbiters who complain about everything like the rest of the people at CTU.
As you can see by my tagline, I have solved the mystery.
