March 16, 2007 Editorial Phony Fraud Charges
In its fumbling attempts to explain the purge of United States attorneys, the Bush administration has argued that the fired prosecutors were not aggressive enough about addressing voter fraud. It is a phony argument; there is no evidence that any of them ignored real instances of voter fraud. But more than that, it is a window on what may be a major reason for some of the firings.
In partisan Republican circles, the pursuit of voter fraud is code for suppressing the votes of minorities and poor people. By resisting pressure to crack down on fraud, the fired United States attorneys actually appear to have been standing up for the integrity of the election system.

(There in my italics): it's sort of like "read no further, you'll fall off the edge; but we're moonbats and can fly!"
Insulting, unreasonable, dishonest, fantastic.
I'm concerned about voter fraud. Naturally it hasn't occurred to me I'm therefore subconsciously "against poor people or minorities".
Anyone think this childish attitude on the editorial board doesn't spill over into their news coverage?
Not once during all this hoopla have they put the firings in perspective. Not once have they given examples of what other presidents have done with federal prosecuters they were unhappy with.
All Limbaugh has to do is open his radio program and say "ladies and germs, in 1993 Bill Clinton fired 93 out of 94 federal prosecuters."
The Times is the laughing stock of the internet and talk radio, and being consistently wrong on so many "scandals" that come and go, their days are surely numbered. People will finally stop paying attention.

The Times is the laughing stock of the internet and talk radio, and being consistently wrong on so many "scandals" that come and go, their days are surely numbered. It's not just the NYT, it's the whole MSM. Don't underestimate the power of propaganda.

Rove, you magnificent bastard !!
If the socialists want to pursue the validity of these voter fraud allegations ... guess which can of worms gets opened up ??

This is disgraceful! Yeah, right.
Was there any outrage of high media attention when the recently elected William Jefferson "Willie Boy" "I never etc, etc" Clinton took office and fired some 90 US Attorneys. Were they just not working hard enough?
Of course another recent news article reflects testifying before Congress does not have to be under oath now either.
Guess it's all a matter or perception.

Didn't one of those fired attorney's come from WA State? Well, there is some serious voter fraud here!!!. Maybe the Times needs to get a Connestoga wagon and come out here to hicksville and do some real investigating. Just hacks, I can't read that paper, makes me want to take a shower!

Ah, no. You want fraudulent, politically-based charges, look into Billy Dale's case. When the Clintonistas behind that one go down for it, call me about this one.
To: dangerfield
hmm...I won't read the article, but do they mention the rats suppressing the military vote???
how about the liberal media suppressing the vote of conservatives by ignorantly announcing victory in a state two hours before the polls close ala Florida in 2000?
I tend to say the answer to both those question is nada...

Yep .. That's one who got fired - because he did not agressively investigate the WA state mess. And .. the jerk was a democrat!! No wonder he didn't investigate.
And .. this is why THE CLINTONS PUT SUCH PEOPLE IN OFFICE.
When is the WH going to get it ..??

This is even shriller and more desperate than usual. One of these days the Times Company's creditors will be padlocking the building. Then they can all stand on soap boxes in Central Park with megaphones until the cops haul them away.

I believe it can be summed up by saying the White house has Iraq style "Rules of Engagement"(ROE and) the left has Al Queda's.

You're forgetting that the left is bulletproof - way beyond Kevlar.
Those that have been chuckling about the demise of the "mainstream media" are likely gulping right now. CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN are still firmly in charge of the 'hearts and minds' (small as they are.....)

In partisan Republican circles, the pursuit of voter fraud is code for suppressing the votes of minorities and poor people. My first reaction to this statement was outrage. Then I realized that this is a pure post modern rationalization of ends justifies the means when defending the metanarrative of victimization. The white man is always guilty, even if the minority member commits the crime.

I guess the writer wrote this article before reading
this article from the Seattle Times about the voter fraud in Seattle in the 2006 election. There is most definitely voter fraud everywhere ACORN is involved and plenty of places where they are not involved. ...and there was plenty of evidence of fraud in the 2004 election of Gregoire.

Well, at least we now know why the dims are coming apart at the seams over the legitimate firing of the AGs. The AGs were covering up the voter fraud for them.
