Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has apologized to U.S. attorneys under him and appointed an interim chief of staff as pressure builds for him to resign.

Gonzales apologized to all 93 U.S. attorneys in a conference call Friday as morale in U.S. attorneys' offices across the country deteriorated, McClatchy Newspapers reported. Gonzales has been at the center of a controversy over the way in which eight U.S. attorneys were fired in recent months

False apology for a non-scandal! Don't Republicans know how to spell m-a-n-i-p-u-l-a-t-e? This is directly from the land of OZ

This is ironic on several levels - not the least is that they would likely have all been fired if it were not for him.

Bad move!

Alberto Gonzales should ask all the U.S. attorneys under him if they had a problem with his decision, which was co-ordinated with the President of the United States, and if it will affect their job performance and moral. The ones who answer 'yes', give them the complimentary security attache', cardboard box to load their chit and escort out of the building.

In the end, he fired US Attorneys who indicted corrupt congressmen and refused to interfere with state sovreingty to serve Karl Rove's political agenda.

Gonzales must go. He is a stain on this Aministration; a weakling dragging down the wagon train.

Simply pathetic. You've just been raped and you merely laid there, offered no resistance whatsoever, didn't cry out in anger or anguish and even thanked the rapist for violating you after he was through...
You get no sympathy from me.

I just don't get it !! The Clintons must be laughing their asses off at this stupid circus.

The administration, including my president, has turned into a land of zombies, and the foxes are ruling the hen house.
I may never come back to the US.

It seems like the republicans have been apologizing a lot lately. maybe they should be apologizing for calling themselves republican. this is getting sooooooooooooo old. Are there any republicans out there with some backbone, or are we conservatives going to have to find another party to carry our banner?

He is apologizing to keep a job he doesn't know that he has already lost.

He might as well go back to texas and run for county public defender, if there is such a position.

Or he could do background screening checks of visitors to Crawford.

following the set example of this administration, everyone at the Gathering of Eagles and These Colors Don't Run Rally should leave early today after apologizing for being a disturbance

Any suggestions as to what conservatives can do to protest all the phony scandals?? (Plame, Pace, Gonzales etc)
If we criticize, we should be able to offer suggestions.

Helen Thomas remains front row at White House Briefing Room; CNN up, FOX NEWS row two
Fri Mar 16 2007 22:52:56 ET

TO: White House Correspondents' Association
RE: White House Briefing Room
DATE: March 16, 2007

The White House Correspondents' Association met today to review plans for the renovated West Wing Briefing Room and the seating assignments. The new briefing room will consist of 49 seats: 7 rows and 7 seats per row. In the old briefing room, we had 8 rows and 6 seats per row. This new configuration required us to make several adjustments to the seating arrangement, which is a White House Correspondents' Association responsibility.

As a board, we decided to move CNN to the first row. This decision was based on CNN's 27 years of covering The White House, as well as the resources it brings to the in-town and travel pool, and its daily presence at the briefings. In addition, the board agreed to honor a previous commitment by our association to maintain Helen Thomas' seat in the first row. As the dean of the White House press corps, Helen is an institution. First with United Press International and now as a White House columnist for Hearst newspapers, Helen has covered every president since John Kennedy.

Every news organization that had a seat in the old briefing room will have a seat in the new briefing room, and these seating assignments only affect the Brady Briefing Room. The White House, however, will continue to determine seating assignments for all presidential news conferences. We expect to move back to the West Wing this June. Look for additional updates on the briefing room project in the weeks ahead.

These are all attorneys for Gawd sake. They're supposed to be able to take it without showing emotion, unless they're Geoffrey Fagger er, uh Fieger of course. Attorneys in real life get fired by their clients all the time, its the client's perogative. No one apologizes to them, life just goes on; they find another ambulance to chase. Some even go on to lucrative judgeships where they can screw the great unwashed at will.
