Sorry you have to work tomorrow....we will miss you.

I am sorry to say that your feelings about Pres. Bush showed up quite a bit on FR this last week. I must admit to disgust with AB and his weaniness.

Now..to be fair, Pres. Bush was out of the country last week...and it seems that is usually when the dems try to bring out their attacks.

I posted on a thread with a LOT of angry freepers that are my FRiends, that as frustrated and angry as I get about Pres. Bush's lack of fighting back, and criticising the the critics..

I think he sees his "job" as the POTUS in a way that doesn't afford himself the luxury of getting into verbal back and forths with the Dems, MSM and even his own party.

One thing that has been interesting to me this week is the various opinions from "conservatives" about whether Bush should fire AG or ask him to resign or keep him on.

There are good arguments for both sides...but, since we ALL know that Bush's real critics only REALLY want he and Cheney to be impeached, imprisoned and/or dead....I don't think it really matters in the long run politically whether AG stays or goes.

I think the Dems will use it to blast him, and call for further hearings regardless of what he does also.

IOW...NOTHING that happens for the good or for the bad will harm Pres. Bush's standing in the MSM or the left...it can't get any worse.

Now...as for his own party...I think they have already run from him and written him off...

Noteworthy among the latest is Tom Delay in his new book, and now a contributor at Politico.com, which I consider just barely right of Daily Kos...

It is a rough time for we Bush fans....

It would be a lot easier if there was a GOP candidate to get behind, to keep my emotions from affecting my interest in the 2008 race. Right now..that hasn't happened.

Sorry this is so long, MID....I figure since you won't be here tomorrow...I would unload on you in one post!!!

And Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and Mrs. MID!!!

Joe DiGenova was on the WSJ show...

He said that the US Attorney scandal is ALL about politics, nothing "illegal"..which we all pretty much knew.

However, when asked, he wasn't sure that Alberto Gonzalez or Paul McNulty will be "effective" anymore, because they won't have the "confidence" a POTUS needs in an AG.

The woman on the panel was very harsh...using the word incompetence a few times regarding AG...

DiGenova DID say that what is going to happen now is that the DEMS will look into EVERY US attorney's cases, and will investigate if there is any evidence of impropriety on the White House's part in any of their cases.

IOW..there will be subpoenas and hearings FOREVER..just due to Al Gonzalez' "clumsy" handling of this matter...instead of just telling the the Dems and MSM to stuff it.

Also, it was mentioned that Harriet Miers actually had the "best" suggestion...she wanted all of the US Attorneys to be sent letters requesting their resignations...and then the Justice Dept would go through the letters to see which ones they would "accept" instead of singling out just these few...

Who knows....like I posted to MID...I don't know that any of the above matters...BDS doesn't need a reason.

I'll be on and off today, but gone "nest" weekend. Sorry for the confusion and Happy St. Patrick's Day to you too!

I really don't disagree with what you wrote. Like you, I do not hold any promise that President Bush will change his methods or actions between now and the end of his term.

Overall, I approve of the job President Bush has done and his MBA management style has been good for government. My only problem with him has been his not realizing he is in a war with Democrats, not simply a difference of opinion. The outcome will determine our nations future after President Bush is long gone. Proof of this is the continued support for national health care Hillary talks about at every opportunity. If a Hillary Clinton is elected she will claim she has a mandate from the people behind her and push her health care plans through congress.

As for Gonzales, he does not appear strong enough for getting the job done in the DOJ. (Just my opinion.) As DeGenova (sp?) said, getting rid of Gonzales would not help at this point so I don't agree he should be fired. Just as you pointed out.

I still hold out hope the GOP candidate will swear to enforce ALL laws and stop letting Democrats escape accountability, as has been done for six years now.
