Use the semiotics of war to fight war? One of those things that makes sense on paper and reads completely wrong to anyone who sees the images in the media. Rookie mistake, really.

All those "Shields" are are stolen road construction barrels sawed into half. Those things would have broken with one swing of the billy club.
