My dog's Science Diet prescription formula costs more than regular people food. How poor do you have to be to resort to eating dog food?

The Hill's Science Diet recall seems to only be affecting their cat food.

You have to be really poor, just getting a few dollars from your social security and no savings. The cheapest dog or cat food is all you can afford, because it costs less than a can of spam or beans. Remember Reagan was against the great society which was to make everyone rich off of government subsidies and enable them to eat steak and eggs for every meal, but Reagan was against raising social security payments, thus our grandparents had to live off of the cheapest dog and cat food available.

Ask some of your friends if they remember those news stories during the 1980s that the MSM ran against the 'cruel Republicans".
