Kiran Chetry Axed From 'Fox and Friends' For Gretchen Carlson
Post Chronicle ^ | Feb 19, 2007 | Staff

In a shocking development, 'Fox and Friends' cutie Kiran Chetry has been canned. Apparently the William Morris Agency tried to play hardball with the Fox News Channel, and it struck out big time - with its client Chetry, getting axed from the network.

William Morris super-dooper-agent John Ferriter told the network to dump the unfunny and very wooden Gretchen Carlson, co-anchor of the higher-rated weekday "Fox & Friends," so that Chetry could slide into the slot.

Ferriter, who'd recently started representing Chetry, had his backstabbing request backfire on Thursday, when Fox execs fired off an irate letter to Ferriter saying they were terminating their contract with Chetry for the treachery............"

Julie Bandaras is too professional for the weekend clown edition of Fox & Friends.

That could be true. I don't get to watch her in the afternoon. I was very impressed by her professionalism.

i agree about gretchen but the true atrocity is courtney friel on the weekends. OMG, i know she is beautiful but she is jawdroppingly stupid. Page, Kiran etc are gorgeous but at least they can talk intelligently. courtney cannot ad lib anything on an issue of substance. it is painful to watch

Put me in the column as one who doesn't make a point of watching FoxNFriends anymore since E.D. left. Say what you will about E.D. - the chemistry worked. It doesn't with Gretchen. But if she is there to stay, somebody tell her to lay off the eyeliner.

I'm not sure I understand all of this mention of E.D. in a conversation about Kiran Chetry and Gretchen Carlson.

I really liked Kiran as well, and I didn't like seeing her go, but I am glad Fox sent her packing, agent or no, that behavior is unacceptable. ED Hill is a Democrat by her own words, so I am not sure where posters are getting she is somehow more conservative than Gretchen. The complete opposite is true IMO. I watch Fox and Friends more now that Gretchen is in the slot, and I don't see a thing wrong with her looks. If it is, in fact, all about aesthetics, let's put Jamie Colby in the slot and be done with it.

Hmm. She's not bad, but not exactly heart-racing either.

Dude! You need to have your tachometer checked.     =;^)
In my book, she is Da Bomb.

Sounds like Fox News has the same attitude toward ultimatums as I do:

When presented with an ultimatum, don't just refuse to do what is demanded; attempt to do the exact opposite.

They just got a bit more respect in my book, after draining some slowly with their periodic attempts to mimic the DBM.

Too bad about Kiran. Maybe she'll dump her ultimatum-waving agent and ask (nicely) for a return to status quo ante (and say "please"), and maybe she'll be back.

I don't see how she can go back without crying and crawling. He position at Fox would be unbearable.

I rather liked ED, altho I really am more interested in getting my news than in the personalities of those giving it to me. However, clearly I’m way in the minority....as usual.

Hi. I especially watch FoxnFriends for the news when I get up to make sure all is right with the world. Well, as right as it can be but you know what I mean. And then I enjoy some of the chatter as I get three girls ready for school.

I just looked at your lively profile page. You are a busy-busy person. :o)

This just in.

CNN is dumping Soledad Obrien for Kiran Chetry. I guess Kiran got her way and will be doing mornings now.

From TMZ
CNN To Miles, Soledad — Bye Bye O’Briens

TMZ has confirmed through sources that Miles O’Brien and Soledad O’Brien have been officially booted as anchors of CNN’s “American Morning.”

Their replacements will be John Roberts and Kiran Chetry. CNN recently hired Chetry after she got the ax from FOX News Channel.

Sources say the move will be effective in two to three weeks. We’re told both O’Briens will remain at CNN.

That’s a shame. I liked both Carol and Donna.

Replaced by a couple of younger ones. That is too bad but the way it works.

I disagree!

At first I wasn't impressed with Carlson, but she has grown with the job.

She's found her niche and looks and sounds good...

..good interaction with Steve and Brian, and is not afraid to voice her opinions, which are more conservative than Kiran's!!

NA...I am finding Gretchen to be more conservative than Kiran ever was....

..in fact, I thought Kiran quite liberal.

I think Gretchen is more relaxed now and gets on well with Steve and Brian.

Betcha a dime to a donut that the fact that Gretchen’s husband is the agent for Derrick Deter(?) is a big reason Gretchen got the position instead of Chetry.

I rather liked ED,

No one so far has had ED's chemistry, or her willingness to speak up to guests about topics she cares about. The only other personality who might fill her shoes, and who is certainly better than Gretchen, is Alyson Camerota. IMHO.
