Sure, Bush's approval rating is just 35 percent in the latest Gallup poll. But Congress' rating is even worse - 28 percent. Why shouldn't Bush move to take advantage of that?

And if he actually goes on the offensive, his ratings will go up and Congress's will go down.

One of the longest standing gripes I have had with Republicans in congress under Clinton and Bush during his entire administration is that they keep on playing "nice-nice" even after they've gotten their family jewels kicked out their ears.

Why? I just don't understand it! Clinton seemed to take particular glee with meeting Republicans, sweet-talking them and then marching right out in front of the camera to stab them in the back.

Bush? His entire administration has been a series of attempts to get the Democrats to be as nice as he is, when all they are interested in is taking whatever they can get and blaming him for anything that they don't like.

Is he changing his way of dealing with them? I'll believe it when I see it.

This administration has been fighting two wars for years.

The external war is against Islamofascism and the internal war is against the Progrssives, Socialists and Marxists in the dhimmicratic party.

Losing either one means the end of America as we know it.

We can jail, bomb, and shoot foreign enemies but domestic enemies are off limits?

Why?

The rats wouldn't try this with Putin or Castro, they would be pushing up daisies.

I heard Leahy and Meredith Viera state that all the papers that were submitted had alot of 'redacted' parts. Leahy said they were useless that's why they want testimony.

Gee. He started now?
He's had almost six years. He shoulda been a War President from 9/11/01 - with Democrats AND Republicans (and a Holy Terror for the Taliban and Al Qaeda). Instead we got "A Religion of Peace..."

Oh, well. They don't call Republicans "the Stupid Party" for nuthin'.

I am so tired of waiting for him to defend himself...and my beliefs in Conservative values that I just seem to be giving up.

I don't even hope anymore. I just wait for the other shoe to drop after each event.

Well, maybe I hope!

I'd like to see Bush come out at a presser and say "Look, I have tried evry way I know how to be fair with the Democrats and they have fought me tooth and nail on EVERYTHING, but now they are attacking the Constitutional rights of the Presidency, and I have to figth THEM tooth and nail."

I emailed Bush to either start fighting or resign and let someone who will fight take over.

Everyone, including the NYPost has a firm grasp of the obvious except President Bush. That's deeply troubling. Bush will not take the offensive, he will not stand up to Congress, he will not fight for his military decisions and he doesn't stand up and fight for the support of our military. His silence on these topics is deafening. He hasn't defended or taken the attack to the enemy (Congress) in the past 6 years...no reason to believe he'll change. This is my problem with Bush, he's a total wimp.

Fight?
Absolutely.

But this particular aspect of the U.S. attorneys is likely not the right fight.

Executive branch people are subject to congressional subpeona for "any matter under inquiry" in ether house.

Congressional subpeona has been tested over and over since 1821 and congress has won every time.

Many so called scandals didn't start as true scandal - they grew when somebody decided to break the law to hide something.

I am concerned for the country on two points
1. That if the President orders his staff to not answer a congressional subpoena he may be committing a crime.
2. That this is pushing crucial issues to the back burner - like Iran, north Korea, the economy, immigration and Chavez.

He's been offering olive branches left and right, and failing to defend what he believes is right.

Bush 41 and Bush 43 both have the same trait ... they both have a well deserved reputation for not quite grasping the severity of the issue at hand, in other words ... at times they appear to be clueless. GWB had better get a handle on the fact the 'Rats are out to destroy his Presidency ... he needs to start playing smash mouth football.
