This is to be expected. They are feeling very empowered these days. Slips of the tongue betray the hidden, true heart (of many). Not a few even right here on FR believe in empowering the Japanese against the Red Chinese. Unfortunately, the pendulum swings from extreme pacificism to extreme nationalism with now in-between...things like this are the unfortunate byproduct--and none of us should be surprised!! you should have seen the Uproar about year ago over freepers who felt should that Japan should be allowed to have nukes and build up a army to counter China,Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face!
I don't hate the Japanese but I don't trust them (as a group) anymore then I can fly to the moon

It seems that Japan no longer respects U.S.the way it used to.The U.S. no longer respects the U.S. That's the problem.

"Blond, blue-eyed Westerners probably can't be as successful at Middle East diplomacy as Japanese with their "yellow faces," Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Aso was quoted by media as saying in a weekend speech." BWAAAHAHAHAHAA! I didn't need to read past right here. Hey mister Foreign Minister. Guess what? The practitioners of the Religion of Pieces despise you "Yellow Devils" even more than they hate us Western "People of the Book" infidels! This guy really needs to buy a clue at any price!

This oyaji shows us how backward Japan is to the rest of the world. In many ways , they are still 300 years behind, and still have a lot of catching up to do.
The oyaji hubris is a serious matter. They have Japanese women so alienated that the Japanese birth rate is less than the death rate. They have a bith rate of .75 replacing those dying. Japanese men had better get their act together, and put their archaic notions of race and manhood behind them, so their nation can survive.

There will be more and more instances of Japan, for whatever reason(s) and on whatever issues, will increasingly walk an independent route than that of Uncle Sam.
It will come as a rude awakening to many--despite the fact they are our big friend right now. This is what is on the mind of the younger generation here in Japan, I can assure you. The guys/and gals in the 30s and 40s and 50s who are taking the reigns over the next 10 years or so....
I am not sure that many, even on FR, see this or realize it is coming.
Still the banzai flags will fly on FR in support of nationalist Japan only because it serves as a wedge against Red China. The fact is, though, the old Imperial Japan mindset and all its ugly accountrements, despite being more preferable to Chinese Red Communism, really has nothing in common with American republican democracy.

Is it any wonder that so many Japanese women are either not choosing to get married (or otherwise be "child bearing machines") or are opting out and finding foreign husbands, particularly Caucasian Westerners, but also many from other parts of the world.
Japanese men had better get hip. A lot of this lays at their own doorstep due to many an insular attitude that just will not cut it with sophisticated, international and worldly Japanese women of the early 21st century....

You are wise. You see it.
Many don't.
Giving The Japanese nukes, even WITH a neighboring Communist PRC threat, is like giving the car keys and a loaded luger to a 12-year-old who had just gotten into grand-daddy's whiskey stash.

Yep, the political clan of Kishi Nobusuke is alive and well, now dreaming of becoming mainstream once again.

This guy simply doesn't know his history. The Mongol Empire (as it was being built) created quite a bit of antipathy for all East Asians in the Middle East.
