In Texas, we have lots of rights to use deadly force.

Still, my conceiled carry instructer told us to assume that we would go to jail for using our guns. Then he said: this is the decision....would you rather be alive in jail or dead. Put in that perspective, you use deadly force only to protect your life.

Not sure I believe in that, but as an employee of a store I don't believe I'd be using a weapon to protect someone elses property. Still, that pretty much tells the bad guys they can walk into stores and walk out with the goods. Somebody has to use deadly force.....sometime.

Here in VA I was told as much by a LEO. He said it's always better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6. With regard to home intrusion, each and every single cop I've ever spoken to has told me that if an intruder is in your home you are within your right to use deadly force. It's my feeling any time an intruder is in my home, my family's lives are in danger and the intruder will be treated accordingly. Most cops have also told me that if I have to use deadly force to make sure it is deadly, shoot to kill. People who survive make very unfavorable witnesses and tend to file lawsuits.
