Generators aren't cheap,
About 300 dollars around here. Of course it goes up from there....
I stand by my comment .
Deadly force to protect himself and those in the situation ... but not just to prevent a generator from running away.
I think he handled the situation perfectly.
His use of force was escalated appropriately.
His gun at the ready in case the bad guy escalated it further.
His choice not to execute the guy for running off with a 300$ (could have been more , but they get heaver as the get more expensive) generator was correct.
They have the bad guys tag and info , they'll get him.

You are being awfully free with MY property! That generator, or car, or ride-on lawnmower represents x number of work hours of my life. As far as I'm concerned, blowing off the back of the thief's head is just compensation for stealing part of my life. If the thief doesn't like the cost, perhaps he should review how much he wants part of my life.
The idea that theft is not a capital offence is a VERY recent Socialist creation, and one that does not seem to be working.
