Duncan Whatshisname?? NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! Not in a million years. I will not throw away my vote.

Other than the fact that he is a conservative, is there any reason you don't like Duncan Hunter?

Are you really this thick? Presumably you are.

I do not pretend they aren't spam. I readily acknowledge it is spam and openly acknowledged the posts as such in an effort to have the mods decide that it's a waste of bandwidth and return the forum to the former and more sane policy of no spam. Not yours, and not mine.

"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

The reason you Rudy folks keep saying "only Rudy can beat Hillary" is because you're trying to distract others from the fact that, when compared to the other Republican candidates, Rudy looks just like the liberal he is.

So you stand him next to an even more liberal liberal, Hillary.

And then you repeat "the mantra". It's all you have.

But we are not fooled by the deception.

A recent Newsweek poll shows Mayor Giuliani with a 25-point lead among Republican and Republican leaning voters and a 30-point lead among social conservatives. Mayor Giuliani has a wider lead among social conservatives than he does among Republicans in general. SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES already know who Rudy Giuliani is. In fact, more than 70% say they know “some or a lot” about him – these numbers are almost identical or better than other candidates in the race

In fact, more than 70% say they know “some or a lot” about him – these numbers are almost identical or better than other candidates in the race.

SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES are already more likely than Republicans in general to know the Mayor’s positions on key issues. Social conservatives are tuned in to the campaign and they like what they see in Mayor Giuliani.

That same Newsweek poll claiming 70% of social conservatives know some or a lot about Giuliani also showed that when asked specifically about his position on abortion more than 60% either misidentified him as pro-life or did not know his position. On the issues of gun control and gay marriage more than 80% misidentified his position or did not know.

Giuliani is benefiting from the assumption by many Republican voters that he is pro-life, pro-gun and pro-marriage protection. Those are typically the default positions of Republicans and is why 70% claim to know some or a lot about him when the actual responses to specific questions show they know very little.

That will change.

The statement in your spamomatic table that the Democrats support the war in Iraq is false, as was proven by the House this week. At the moment, you are merely incorrect, but you need to update your cut-and-paste macro before you descend on the next thread. If you continue to claim that the Democrats support the war in Iraq, you will be a liar.

There are, of course, some voters that will never vote for Mayor Giuliani, and we know that we will see polls tighten. But the “when voters find out about Rudy’s record the sky will fall” notion is a myth.

A recent Newsweek poll ...

So I can assume that the "facts" are contrived.

You'll have to do better.

BTW,you completely ignored my post.

And I know why. ;^)

plenty of people I know, including members of my own family, fall into the "independent" voting block. My 6 relatives in Florida all voted for Bush, they could care less about social issues. just because everyone here on FR is wired into politics, that is far from the norm amongst Americans at large.

FR is a vacuum. Almost nobody in the general electorate is as tuned in, or as conservative, as the average Freeper. The climate on the outside is just not that hospitable to GOPers, regardless of pockets of denial here and there on this forum.

Pop culture check - Ohio Valley Wrestling, a developmental territory for the WWE, has a wrestler who is a strong GOP and Dubya booster. He is a 'bad guy' and routinely booed by the crowd.

Some Freepers can't seem to accept that he is a president who is now comfortably with low approval who has lost the confidence of many Americans. He is a huge minus for the GOP in 2008, and a successful GOP candidate must distinguish himself or herself strongly from this administration, which has simply fallen and can't get up.

I think a big part of Rudy's appeal is that he can make a clear, persuasive, and cogent case for himself. Dubya just can't do it - he comes across as befuddled and out of touch, as well as downright incoherent. Rudy's style is about as different from Dubya's style as you can get. For most GOPers (and most Americans), that's a good thing.

For those preferring to live in the FR Vacuum, denial ain't a river in Egypt, and DST mandates that you change your calendars from 1956 to 2007.

Is he a "loser" because he's a conservative and you prefer liberals?

I don't know; you'll have to take it up with the National Religious Broadcasters. Did you even read the link?

And neither you, Peach, KATIE-O,or any other Rudy supporter can dispute the validity of my post # 85.

It's a myth according to Giuliani supporters. When questioned about Giuliani's specific positions huge numbers of voters still don't know. We'll see what happens when they do.

Uh, hello? I don't believe I've ever said that only Rudy can beat Hillary. I'm not even certain she's even going to be the nominee.

As to trying to distract people about how liberal he is, I've never denied that he's not a social conservative. He is, however, a fiscal and law and order conservative and I've posted dozens and dozens of articles and personal posts that reflect that.

You must not be paying attention.

No I don't I've been saying Hillary will not stand up well and the dims will realize Obama has no "gravtas" so later on this summer Gore will step in "for the good of the party"
