Iran said on Sunday it would press ahead with its nuclear program despite an “illegal” U.N. resolution imposing new financial and arms sanctions. ...

The U.N. Security Council unanimously approved the sanctions against Tehran on Saturday for its refusal to suspend a nuclear program, but major powers also offered new talks and renewed an economic and technological incentive package offer.

“The Iranian nation will not forget those who backed and those who rejected (the resolution) ...,” Ahmadinejad said ... Iran has 60 days to comply or face possible new sanctions.

...

A government spokesman said Iran would limit its co-operation with the U.N. watchdog, the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency.

...

European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana told reporters at an EU summit in Berlin he would contact Ali Larijani, Iran's main negotiator on nuclear issues, “to see whether we can find a route to negotiations.”

... Also in Berlin, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the 15 British sailors and marines seized by Iran on Friday were captured in Iraqi waters and that Tehran must understand its action was “unjustified and wrong.”

“They should not be under any doubt at all about how seriously we regard this act, which was unjustified and wrong,” Mr. Blair told a news conference. ...

The foreign ministers of countries that drafted the sanctions resolution -- the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany -- proposed further talks with Iran “to see if a mutually acceptable way can be found to open negotiations,” according to a joint statement read by British Ambassador Emyr Jones Parry.

...Western diplomats believe the new bans, and those imposed in December, are having an impact on curtailing new investments in Iran but leave the country's oil industry intact. ...

And 17 resolutions later will we find anyone willing to do anything of substance to protect the world? No, America and Britain got tired so Iraq was wrong, therefore taking action against Iran is wrong, right?

Appears Mymood Ahminajihad had prepared remarks, written before the vote was taken, eh?

If Blair and Bush are men, Iran should have 24-48 hrs to release the Brits unharmed - if not, the present govt of Iran wouldn't need to worry about 60 days down the road....big IF, though.

I guess at this rate eventually we'll get to see the results of multiple nuclear detonations in major cities across the Middle East.

I wonder if we'll be able to see the glow all the way from the moon!

If I were Blair I would announce: "The government of Iran has committed an act of war against her Majesty's government. We will grant the Iranians 12 hours to reconsider this hostile action and return all personnel and equipment to the Iraqi territorial waters from which they were seized. In the meantime, we call on all NATO members to prepare to answer this act of aggressive war by the government of Iran."

And then I'd call in the Iranian ambassdor and tell him, "If our sailors are not released within 12 hours, please convey the sentiment of Her Majesty's government to your President that he should bend over and kiss his a## goodbye".

10-4 on that FRiend.

The time for 'discussions', 'consultations', 'reviews', 'investigations', blah-freakin'-blah, is OVER.

It's time for Tony Blair to either emulate the likes of Churchill and Thatcher, or whimper his way into the twilight like Chamberlain.
