The latest USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted Friday through Sunday, on the presidential race is out, and it's a humdinger. It's hard to say what the headline even is. Here are a few tries, though:
* Romney's support drops to within the margin of error of not existing (that's 3% support in a poll where the margin of error is 3%).
* Giuliani's support drops 13 percentage points since the last USA Today/ Gallup poll, March 2-4 (that's gotta hurt).
* Fred Thompson (not running, by the way) is now the No. 3 in the GOP field, at 12%.

Signed up tonight for that, eh?
I would be more apt to believe that if Rudy hadn't joined in the lawsuit against gunmakers and distributors.
That hits right at the heart of the Second Amendment and our military , as some of those makers supply the military .
Rudy messed up bigtime and won't have my grassroots support. I will educate every gunowner I know about this travesty .
There is no exagerration around here regarding anti-gun Rudy .
By gosh, golly-gee, I believe you.
Winning your "Rabid Dog RDS award" is a badge of honor, as it means that we haven't sold out our gun rights and the Conservative movement just to "win" with a Liberal . Thanks , please keep awarding your coveted trophy .
Riiggght. And you're the NRA. C'mon, you aren't fooling anybody. What was your last FReepname?
Ping to Pharmboy.
Tell that to the thousands of law abiding NYC gun owners who lost their permits for NO good reason.
Rudy is the absolute worst, but I'm not sure I'd give much more credit to Romney. Sure, he's got his new store-bought "lifelong" NRA membership, but to convince ME he'd have to put on his Elmer Fudd hat, and in his best hick accent say "Kin I git me a huntin' license here?".
Holy crap. Since when is abortion NOT genocide? LOL!
Not a perfect poll: it doesn't include the early primary states.
Besides, Thompson is going to be an easy target to take down with supporting CFR and being pro-life then pro-choice then pro-life.
Actually I wouldn't want Romney to pull such a stunt . Romney was the Only candidate to attend the Shot Show this year and he was well recieved.
Attending the Shot Show enables a candidate to see just how big of an industry it truly is . It also personalizes the issue by letting a candidate get to know the people who cherish this right and contribute to all aspects of the Second Amendment including our Military and Law Enforcement communities .
"Law and order" Rudy had no problem going after these good people and companies, many of whom supply Law Enforcement and the Military. We will be here to remind everyone of Rudy's anti-gun past .
That may or may not be true but if that's your standard, doesn't it disqualify all of the hopefuls? I mean which candidate can you really measure affirmatively? Regardless, leadership right now, is about setting priorities and being persuasive enough to convince the majority to support that agenda.
Thompson has stated he was pro-life since at least 1997, and voted *100%* pro-life.
There has been no actual quote cited in which Thompson stated he was pro-choice, simply cites of articles that labeled him so. The National Right to Life Committee questioned him in 1994, and were satisfied that he was absolutely pro-life.
You people must be really desperate to keep repeating the same lies over and over even though they have been debunked.
Come on he's less than 2 years older than Rudy.
No desperation here. I like him and he acted pro-life once he was elected which to me is fine enough to be nominee, but there has been change in his past. Here are the quotes. I would not be surprised if a video appears on Youtube from the rival campaigns.
Pro-choice Thompson?
Both [Thompson and Houston Gordon] also are basically pro-choice on abortion although Thompson has voted to bar federal funding of abortions. Both candidates said they would have voted to override Clinton's veto of a bill this year that would have banned a controversial partial-birth abortion procedure. (Memphis Commercial Appeal, 11/4/96)
U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson says he seldom hears about abortion in campaign travels throughout Tennessee and hopes the issue is downplayed at the Republican National Convention. The Tennessee Republican, a pro-choice defender in a party with an anti-abortion tilt, is preparing for next week's convention in San Diego. He said the party must avoid distracting issues and focus on electing Bob Dole as president. "We need to concentrate on what brings us together and not what divides us," Thompson said in an interview with The Tennessean published Tuesday. Thompson said he opposes making early-term abortions a crime, as some Republicans would like to do with a constitutional amendment. "But I don't think you should bolt on one issue. I'm still not convinced platforms are a good idea. We know what we believe in and I don't think we need to write it all down in a document," Thompson said. (AP, 8/6/96)
On abortion, both Thompson and Cooper are pro-choice. But Thompson favors parental notification, Cooper voted against it. (National Review, 6/27/94)
Though Thompson says he's pro-choice, his voting record on abortion issues (which includes opposing fellow Tennessean Henry Foster's nomination for surgeon general) has earned him high marks from both the Christian Coalition and the National Right to Life Committee. He has also won the backing of the tobacco industry and the NRA. (Washington Monthly, 12/1/96)
You surely jest [sarcasm]...
Oh, yeah, that'll sink him. We only have video of Giuliani saying he would pay for the murder of his unborn grandchild.
