"Giuliani's support drops 13 percentage points since the last USA Today/ Gallup poll, March 2-4"
Ah, some good news for a change!

Hooray! Finally, a real supply sider, who is a social conservative, who can fight the war on terror. None of the other major candidates have all three attributes, well except Hunter.

What does it all mean? Partly, that polls this early swing wildly based on name recognition.IOW, "I wrote this column for nothing."
But also that and this may end up being quite important as the race wears on John McCain's numbers do not seem to be as susceptible to wild fluctuations as those of some of the other candidates. Conservatives, and Republicans generally, don't like him.
LOL!!

Hopefully, all the Rudyfiles can get just as excited for a more conservative celebrity. If not for Rudy being on 24/7 post 9-11, he'd be as viable a GOP nomineee as Bloomberg.

"* Romney's support drops to within the margin of error of not existing (that's 3% support in a poll where the margin of error is 3%). "
This statement is a bit right -- but the margin of error on it is so large, that it's actually wrong. </smarmy sarcasm>
Let's assume that 1,000 people were polled (the exercpt doesn't make that clear) -- Romney got the support of 3% of those polled -- i.e. 30 people. Even if, by some incredible fluke, those were the only Romney supporters in existence -- they still exist. Therefore, it's not correct to say the support has dropped: "to within the margin of error of not existing".
If Romney had polled 4%, it would be fair to say that his support could be as low as 1% (provided you also added the confidence level. I.e. how many times out of 20 would a smaller result be expected?)
It's important to be picky on poll results -- they have become a political weapon.

As I've said on other threads, it's important not to read too much into poll numbers at this stage of the game, but 12% does seem to be Fred's number right now (give or take a few). If he jumps in, he will at least be competitive. He'll have my vote when he does.

Giuliani's support in the straw votes and most of the polls has been in the 30's among Republicans, so this is no surprise. Their previous had him higher, but no one else did. He remains the leader, and has all the momentum.
It looks like Thompson's attempt to take all the steam out of Romney and Hunter is working well. Thank you, Fred. Appreciate it.
Now go back to your easy chair and rest that beer belly....
