24% Consider Al Gore Global Warming Expert March 24, 2007

Al Gore Former Vice President Al Gore (D) received a warm welcome on Capitol Hill last week for his testimony on the environment and Global Warming. However, while his film is now an Academy Award winner and he is a celebrity activist, just 24% of Americans consider Gore an expert on Global Warming. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of 1,000 adults found that 47% say he is not an expert on the topic (see crosstabs).

In fact, just 36% of Americans say that Gore knows what he is talking about when it comes to the environment and Global Warming. Thirty-one percent (31%) say he does not know what he is talking about while 33% are not sure. Women, by a 2-to-1 margin, say Gore knows what he is talking about. Men, by a similar margin, say he does not. (More Below)

That means that 76% consider him a total freaking idiot?

The flip side of that is 24% are actually dumber than Al Gore, which is a really chilling number.

Wait a minute... If Men think one thing 2-to-1 and Women think the opposite 2-to-1, shouldn't the aggregate be roughly 50-50%?

Where was this poll taken, San Francisco? Is their some other sex that I don't know about messing up the numbers?

24% probably think the earth is flat and that aliens from other planets live among us. I listen to Coast-to-Coast: 100% of the callers on that program are just that nutty.

When I was a kid and I heard the old-timers lament that our country was headed down the tubes because they gave women the vote I just thought they were grouchy old bastards looking for something to complain about. Maybe those old coots were smarter than my then young smartass self.

Why has no one asked Goreon to explain his credentials?
In other words, what makes him any more knowledgeable
about climate then any junior high student in science class?

But still the fact that 24% consider him one is alarming.

Also take into account that some of these "adults" may be college students who were forced to watch Algore's crocumentary in class.

Fifty-six percent (56%) of Democrats say human activity is the cause while 51% of Republicans identify long-term planetary trends as the culprit.

When you examine that sentence, and examine it a few times again, which side begins to sound like they're more inclined to think with their hearts and which side is inclined to think with their minds?
