U.S. base in Iraq attacked with suicide lorry bombs

U.S. combat post was attacked by two suicide lorry bombs and about 30 gunmen west of Baghdad on Monday, but American soldiers succeeded in repelling them and killed 15, the U.S. military said on Tuesday.

The attack on the combat post in the Garma area, near Falluja, was unusual given that insurgents do not typically launch such large-scale military assaults. Eight U.S. soldiers were wounded in the fighting.

The U.S. military said soldiers opened fire on two trucks loaded with explosives that tried to smash their way into the compound, detonating both of them.

"Approximately 30 terrorist fighters engaged the compound with small-arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and mortars. The soldiers returned fire with small arms, mortars and artillery," the military said in a statement.

"Initial estimates indicate as many as 15 terrorists were killed," it said, blaming the attack on al Qaeda militants.

Yeah. There's a reason for that. The result is the reason for that.

There seem to be no reports of Allied casualties, does that mean these idiots just put 15 of their men on the fire for nothing? In the words of the six fingered man, "I think that's the worst thing I've ever heard. How marvelous."

Desperate terrorists and 15 Jihadis killed. No American casualties. Sounds good.

I think it said 8 US troops injured but didn't say how seriously. I assume not too or Rueters would have made that the headline.

Al Qaeda thinks American G.I's are cowards. They won't attempt that particular manuever again.

Desperate?

They've been desperate from Day 1.

HOWEVER...their lack of military capability has been pointed up...and we freepers should keep pointing out that lack of military capability in every newspaper in America...staggered over time...BECAUSE

The only venue the terrorists can compete with us on is in a Propaganda War. In the Propaganda War, the most powerful propaganda machine in the world is working on the terrorists' behalf: The US Liberal Media.

The terrorists can only spill blood randomly. That randomly spilled blood is the fuel that drives the US Liberal Medai. That blood...as has been pointed out by others, finally...doesn't even have to be American blood, nor even the blood of innocents. They can simply kill one another...or videotape taking another terrorist's head off with a saw.

For propaganda purposes...the liberal media in the US will treat it as an American failure...REALITY DOES NOT APPLY.

You and I though...we can defeat this tactic by simply pointing out these facts...we are no longer are reliant upon the liberal media for our news as we were when Cronkite handed Vietnam to the Communists.

I always get this part confused..since there weren't any US casualties, do the 15 Jihadists only get, like, 36 virgins apiece ?

Eight U.S. soldiers were wounded in the fighting.

May they enjoy an swift, full recovery, and a return to duty.

Initial estimates indicate as many as 15 terrorists were killed

Fifty percent casualties? Perhaps they should take up rug-merchanting, or ditch-digging, or camel-herding ... terrorism doesn't seem like a very profitable line of work.

Aw, give our guys a break. It's not their fault the jihadis took off with their tails between their legs faster then our guys could pick them off.

According to the report we had 8 WIA and 0 KIA .... 8 casualties. The question is to the seriousness of the injuries. Most likely, most if not all were or will be able to return to duty ... at least based on the history of this war. We can hope thats the case anyway.
