Sen. Barack Obama: Bush Guilty of 'Social Darwinism'
Newsmax ^ | March 28, 2007

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama accused the Bush administration on Tuesday of pursuing a policy of "social Darwinism" that leaves every man and woman struggling.

"It's a strategy that we've seen this administration pursue over the last six years, that basically says government has no role to play in making sure that America is prosperous for all people and not just some," Obama said to applause during an appearance before the Communications Workers of America.

The Illinois senator said the attempt to "divvy up the government into individual tax breaks" may be tempting, but government research and investment is what has made advances possible in the United States.

Obama, John Edwards and Hillary Rodham Clinton addressed the CWA's conference, each accusing the administration of failing to look out for average workers and vowing to make changes if elected president.

Clinton said she wanted to return to a time when the country and it's leaders had big goals and achieved them - like improving civil rights or sending a man to the moon. She said she wished President Bush would have used the opportunity of a unified nation after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to make the country energy independent or provide universal health care.

"We were waiting for the president to seize the moment to say, let's take this time and let's become energy independent so we're not sending money to people who fund those who then turn around and attack us," she said.

The White House had no immediate comment.

I am confused. The President is pro life and most likely against euthanasia. Isn't it more likely that Barack Obama is the Darwinist?

Natural selection and eugenics are antithetical.

Think of it as the difference between a free market economy (Darwinian) and a centrally planned Stalinist economy (eugenics). Liberty vs totalitarianism,

They had to find a new term for liberty, one with all their desired connotations. Socialist amorality = "progressivism". Liberty = "social Darwinism". With that labeling, anything with the whiff of meritocracy is supposed to immediately conjure up images of eugenics, the movement most antithetical to natural selection that ever existed.

On one side of the scale is individual liberty, and on the opposite side of the scale is compulsory collectivism (encompassing Islamofascism, ecofascism, Nazism, national socialism, Christian socialism, secular socialism, Communism, and so on). All other scales are, like today's misuse and over-application of democracy, parlor tricks meant to lend legitimacy to the theft of liberty.

The left, and some who think they are on the right, mistaken individual liberty to mean hedonistic anarcho-individualism, a soulless system of dog eats dog, might makes right, strong dominating the weak, and if-it-feels-good-do-it. Never mind that collectivism need not be compulsory, never mind that good deeds need not occur by government fiat, and never mind that hedonism can only be sustained when the individual is shielded from the direct consequences of their actions.

These are mere inconveniences for the fiction being sold by those of totalitarian bent. It is not difficult to reconcile the notion of allowing individuals to rise and fall on their own merits, with the notion of being your brother's keeper. The voluntary provision of charity already factors in merit, as determined by the individual who gives; assistance financed via theft at gunpoint, however, takes into account no calculation of merit. "From each according to his ability; to each according to his need," is the flavor of the Marxist - more accurately, this give-and-take are arbitrated at gunpoint, where the point is expressly to back no criteria, pay heed to no function of merit. No judgment. No need for morality.

Typical dummies....ignoring how good the economy is doing, Bush's tax cuts which have helped ALOT of middle class America and once again, telling folks they will make the proper change(s)....

I know not to EVER believe what these RATS spew...their shinanigans so far, since they've been in office since the last election, are proof positive (as if one needs that) to see how low and evil they are and just to which depths they will stoop, to get THEIR agenda going....grrrrrrrrr

This is just more evidence the guy is not ready for prime time. Most Americans, especially Democrats, won't even know what he's talking about.

As always, the left trusts government more than the people. Or rather, they trust a leftist/socialist government more than the people. Turn over the fruits of your labor and they will spend your money for you. This isn't really about "average laborers." It's about non-laborers and those who invested less in work and education still reaping benefits as though they had earned it. Beware those of you who want government handouts and control. There are always strings attached. And one day the shoe may be on the other foot, it may be you the gov't steals from because others demand it.

Yeah that would have showed those terrorists by golly. Sheesh, under the PR varnish she really is nothing but an overeducated dullwitted drudge.
