FG, I'm fairly new here but I'm pretty confident that not the motive for Zotting.
Compared to war and taxes and dictators with oil money online trolls are nothing. But in an online community a persistant band of trolls with lots of free time can really be disruptive and/or it can really drain the energy of the mods and members cleaning up after them.
Zotting is way of dealing with a problem by using humor. I appreciate the way they confine it to a few threads and clearly label them so one can easily avoid them.
Sometimes folks call for Zots when a newcomer is actually just misunderstood but the mods are pretty judicious about it.
