Iran on Wednesday showed the first pictures of 15 detained British navy personnel after Britain froze contacts between the two in an escalating dispute over the captives.

Britain angrily condemned the images of the eight sailors and seven marines shown by Iranian television, in which the only woman among them apparently admitted that the group had trespassed into Iranian waters.

Iran said Faye Turney, 26, would soon be released but there was no easing of tensions between London and Tehran over the crisis now almost one week old.

Oh please, Britian, not another strongly worded condemnation! The Iranians are really in big trouble if that happens!

I surely hope the Brits don't fall for the 'admit guilt and they go free gambit' That would only set the Iranian trap even harder.

Iran would use that as a reason to hold the troops not let them go. This is the same game they played with US if I recall correctly.

If you read the full story it gets progressively worse until near the end where the US "denies its war games were responsible." Asked, implied by whom? Exasperating. I hope these Brits have stamina.

No doubt a stern letter to follow!! If that doesn't do it, Britain may have to escalate further, and ask for a UN condemnation!

What a bunch of pathetic wimps.

That is my opinion. Further, it is my opinion that Mecca must be destroyed.

In circumstances like these, it is appropriate to:

Drop a smart bomb on Mr. Ahmedgenocide's house.
Mine Iran's harbors.
Take all Iranian diplomats and hold them as spies. Send them to Gitmo.
Feed them pork.
Cut off Iran's ability to import or export gasoline and petroleum.
Bomb their nuke facilities.

Just for starters.

Churchill would have already made the ultimatum and J F Kennedy would have issued the current version of a force-wide ready alert and given Achmadeenajerk a specific number of days to return the Brits before things start breaking in good ole Persia. We'd have a nation being conditioned to ''...bear any burden, make any sacrifice...'' (from JFK's speech) and Congress would be compelled to consider nothing that didn't concern the crisis. Moreover, The State Dept. would be scurring about signing up an alliance to support our threat and ships would be heading for the region in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Oman.

But this prez has so royally screwed-up and de-moralized, abused and overused, depleted the force of equipment and depleted our strategic reserve of logistical re-supply and thrown so many billions of war fighting dollar down the international toilet--that all we can do is stand by with our impotence and exhaustion showing like a big red zit on the country's nose. Just tell Iran that after a couple of more presidental administrations and some reinvestement in men and materiel' and a regrowth of force morale among an active force that's active and reserves and Guard that ready to be used in their proper role---then Iran, we'll be ready to make a threat that's meaningful vis-a-vis the weak ass feign of now.

Turn the Iranian Navy into fish condos, most likely.

One thing--Iran doesn't export gasoline, it's an imported item for them.

If the Iranians coerced the confession out of the female sailor, one has to unfortunately conclude that the act of letting her go free would only end up being a severe liability for the Iranians.

Exactly, And I think that we know they did do just that. There is no other way to get it that fast.

None of them are going free, and she might be the first to die.

If the Iranians saw the British as a weak link and wanted them to capitulate/bow down before the Islamic god Ahmadinejad, I think this time they made a huge miscalculation. I mean we are right there to back the Brits up.

However if they do succeed, it will be a huge victory for them, for they will humiliate the West, and split the Brits off from US.

The tension, that is the problem. If only the Brits would just stick a finger in their ear and pretend it wasn't happening. Yeah, that's the ticket.

This explains why the Iranians have demanded that the British basically admit that her confession is the truth. It is the only way the Iranians (being who they are) will release her.

The British have a history of being able to sustain substantial loses and casualties in war (WWI, WWII, Falklands). That is however, only history.

What we need are some high level Iranians we can offer as a trade. Tit for tat.

They never did that - why should they now ?

The brits still radiate a positive spirit about giving hell to bastards asking for it so desperately.

So what do you want them to do? Nuke them?

Come on, get real.
