Kidnapped Children Used For Terrorist Attacks: Interior Ministry

Terrorist groups in Iraq use children and mentally-ill people for suicide attacks, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Thursday.

Most of the children were kidnapped by the extremists, Abdul Karim al-Kanani, director of the Department for Special Operations told the Arab newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat.

The children are especially used for attacks with car bombs, "because parked cars with children sitting in them usually do not get searched," al-Kanani said.

During raids, police had discovered houses where kidnapped children were held captive, he added.

Last week a US general in Baghdad said that terrorist groups in the capital's Adhamiya district were using children as suicide attackers for the first time.

According to al-Kanani, extremists had been abusing children as suicide bombers in Iraq as early as 2005.

This wouldn't shock me one bit.

-'Sounds like they're running out of "martyrs".'-

Makes sense, they were running low on virgins a long time ago.

If these kidnappings are not enough to motivate these people to turn on the extremists then they are a hopeless and they really don't deserve our support.

In the sector where I was, on the southeast corner of Baghdad, we had 3 incidents in 6 months involving mentally ill people. The tactic used would be to have these people act in an aggressive manner in the presence of US troops in order to guage and evaluate our response.
