Researchers with the Rand Corporation in California say China could potentially best the United States in a military conflict over Taiwan.
The global policy think tank said in a report Thursday that China could use "antiaccess" strategies to limit the ability of U.S. forces to deploy into combat zones and find locations to base operations. The scenarios examined by the researchers involved Chinese efforts to keep U.S. military operations at a distance from the conflict.

So long as China cannot defeat the US in a military conflict over the US, I really don't care.
Since so much of our hardware comes from China, all they would have to do is wait till we run low and launch a counter offensive.
But hey, it is free trade and all that, and China would NEVER attack us right?
Then expect it all the time, any time, and treat it as a civilizational enemy it is.
No one can beat the US better than we can beat ourselves.

China is quietly involving itself in other countries' politics, like providing money to politicians in the Philippines. You might remember the Philippines, they used to let the US have a base there ...
They think it's by sinking a U.S. Carrier Battlegroup.
They dont have to nuke anyone..they just need to sink one carrier and five to six ships.
They think the American people would turn tail and run for the mountains.
These days, Im not so sure I don't agree with them.
That could happen, especially if the Russians assist China with the takeover (By threatening nuclear attack against us if we intervene).
From strictly a military capability standpoint, I think the US wins against China.
It's policy and PC bullcrap that would doom us. If we fought a war with China the way we've fought in Iraq, we lose. If we fought it like we fought WWII, and take the damn gloves off, we win.
I there wouldn't be so many traitors and cowards at large, we could defeat every enemy in this galaxy.
This is the fuzzy headed thinking that passes for strategic thought in the think-tank world.
There is no way - no way! - that China could ever attack, invade, and occupy Taiwan; not with the US 7th fleet in the way.
First, any attack would be repulsed by air forces from the US and Taiwan.
Second, the invasion fleet will end up in Davy Jones locker, thanks to the US submarine force.
Third, any airborne invasion will be shot out of the sky, killing thousands of Chinese troops. Any lucky enough to make it to Taiwan will be attacked and killed by Taiwan forces. Reinforcements are impossible.
This article is just some amateur trying to get a headline.

"Could" defeat also means could not. On a given day, anything "could" happen.
