FRENCH ELECTION UPDATE : Street Violence by Paris Youths Intrudes Again Into French Politics

PARIS -France’s top presidential candidates seized on a new campaign issue on Wednesday after the police fought gangs of youths for seven hours at a railroad station here. Stores were destroyed, the pall of tear gas filled the station, Gare du Nord, and 13 people were arrested.

The episode, described as “urban guerrilla warfare” by the new interior minister, François Baroin, was a reminder of the tensions still simmering 18 months after rioting swept immigrant neighborhoods across France. It foreshadowed the task ahead for the candidate who is elected president in May.

The police said the trouble began Tuesday afternoon at the subway station at Gare du Nord when an illegal immigrant from Congo jumped a turnstile and then tried to punch an agent who demanded to see his ticket.

French birth rates are down. Muslim birth rates are way way up. Unless France is prepared to deport those muslim intruders, France is lost, if not this year or next year, then the year after that for sure.

Thanks for the extensive post. I don't agree with it, but you explained yourself well. I found the riots mindless, and destructive, and don't think it will assist in assimilation.

That seems to be the assumption, but I have not seen any data on it, and I suspect "French" birth rates are in fact up, and in fact higher than in almost all of Europe. The centralized French government when it really puts its mind to something, is rather effective. Maybe V knows more.

Yes, it seems to be the assumption, but one based on reports from the world press. France is approaching the tipping point, at which it will no longer be able to assert it's history and it's grandeur to either keep order or preserve the traditional values of daily life. What can we assume will happen in France? Muslims will have a louder and louder voice, and will soon be telling France how to reform itself in the Sharia traditions.
